Hotel Maid ?

I'm just curious, but how much do most of you tip the maid at a hotel? I leave $5 just to be generous because I know how hard they work.

I could be wrong (my DH usually does the tipping) but I think $5/day is generous; we'd do that for very good service. I think typical is $2-$3. But then again, I've heard of the legendary "mousekeeping", so maybe at DL tips tend to be higher?

I used to work at a hotel and typical is $3 per day.

I sort of look to see what I have in my wallet, if all I have is a $5, that's what she gets that day. If all I have is $100, she'll/he'll need to wait til I break that $100! Most of the time its between $2 and $5.

We do $1 per person/ per day. Since we're a familyof 4, we do $4 a day placed in an envelope addressed to housekeeping. We do tip daily as we're not sure if the same person is servicing our room from day to day.
