Hello All,

I was booked at the new Holiday Inn express across the street from Disneyland. However, I was informed today and being told several times including just yesterday that they would be open in time that they in fact will not due to construction delays.

They were able to rebook me at the Holiday inn hotel and suites Anaheim 1420 South Walnut. This is a further location and it is debatable if it would be considered walkable. Certainly not as close as the other location.

I did book the Embassy Suites South as a backup as I did not have a lot of confidence in the promises of the hotel being open in time. I will be checking in on October 14th. If anyone has any advice recommendations on these two locations let me know. The Embassy suites will end up being around $800 more for the trip but it is potentially a nicer room with fireworks view has free breakfast/evening reception and I did get the shuttle included in the rate.

Not ecstatic about the whole deal since it leaves me with few options at this point and even with the discounted rate I received from Holiday inn it is probably still more then what I would be paying if I would have booked in advance

I've stayed at Embassy Suites Anaheim South and many other hotels in the area and so far it's my favorite hotel. The breakfast is an amazing all you can eat buffet. Made to order omelets, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit, danish etc. You name it they have it. Beds are real comfortable as well.

Thanks, I wasn't planning on having a car for the most part. What is the Tram service like?

Raven, I really feel for you. We had a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express for the beginning of November but I no longer have any confidence that it will be open by then. They have released so many opening dates, including ones that are after my booked reservation. I don't understand why they can't get their communication straight. I know construction delays happen, but they had to know they weren't going to make the first three months of reservations way further out than they are notifying their prospective guests.

Luckily we booked a backup room at the Desert Inns and Suites. I never actually expected them to be this far behind! I am just incredibly disappointed in the way Holiday Inn Express has handled this whole situation. Seems pretty unprofessional.

Sorry that I don't have more help to offer. I just wanted to say that I feel your frustration and am so sorry that you have to deal with this situation. I hope you are able to find something that works out well for your family.

Yeah, I really am not happy with IHG in General. I think I have over 75 nights at their properties this year and in general and I don't feel I was treated fairly in this situation. I had questions a while back about if it was going to be open and a representative of the hotel called me and assured me that it would be and he couldn't imagine a scenario where they didn't open for my reservation date. He gave me his name ext etc and told me to call him with any questions. When I called yesterday after I saw they had moved the date back to December for opening once the lady answering the phone found out what I was calling about she stonewalled me and told me I had to call IHG corporate and couldn't give me any information on the hotel. She wouldn't even let me leave a message for the guy she just kept repeating I had to call corporate. I called them and they are like oh it will be open for your arrival no problem. Then today I get the call that it will not be opening. The general lack of empathy was appalling. When they called the other Hotel property to get me a rate that matched the one that I had at the other location they made it seem like a big deal they were saving me 10 bucks a night so I was only paying what I had to pay before even though if you look at booking that property the 3-4 months out I had originally i probably would have been paying 20-30 less than what they booked me at now.
I am really considering dropping IHG properties all together and working on my status with one of the other major hotel chains after this debacle. Yes I am sure they won't miss one customer and the 75+ nights a year I stay with them but at least it will make me feel a little better.

We just stayed at Embassy Suites S in Aug, weren't super thrilled and will choose a different Hilton property next time. We stayed at the DoubleTree the year before and loved it but it was running appx $40 more per night and we had a 6 night stay. The rooms are decent, I guess just not a big fan of the atrium style and the constant noise it brings with it. We also had several issues in our room such as a broken shower head, bar in shower almost falling off, TV needed to be replaced, and the best one was when housekeeping left an entire bag of garbage from all the other guest rooms in our room. The elevators were HORRIBLE!!! Luckily we were only on 2nd floor as we ended up taking the stairs a lot but they were located on opposite side of the hotel from our room. Breakfast was good. Preferred their shuttle vs having to use ART at other locations we've stayed. It leaves 15 and 45 after the hour from the hotel and on the hour and half hour from DL. Don't be late because they leave right on time, every time! It would take only 15 from the time the bus left the hotel to the time we entered DL, quicker than staying at most locations offsite.

Also, how many nights are you staying? $800 MORE for Embassy Suites sounds like a lot.

So they have their own shuttle that is a bonus.

5 nights. its actually going to end up being about 600 more so 100 per night plus tax. Basically I was paying 150 average per night before and the embassy suites is 250.

1420 South Walnut is a pretty decent hike to DL. Although you can take the tram, it is a pain at night trying to get on the tram with 100s of other people trying to get on it at the same time. And the Embassy is pretty steep at 250/night.

No doubt if I would have been smart enough to book the room as a backup when i booked the other one I would probably be paying around 170 a night for the same room

$250 a night at Embassy, ouch! We paid $125, if we'd paid more than that I would've felt ripped off. I would look into other potential options. Looks like hotels are pretty booked but Embassy is far from worth $250 a night.

What about the Hotel Menage or the Anaheim Majestic Garden? They both seem to have a decent amount of availability and reasonable prices.

Hello,

Both of those looks like very good ideas actually. I Like what I see so far, any personal experience with them?

Thanks!!!!!!

The shuttle was good. How many people are in your party and when would you be checking out? Have you looked on getawaytoday.com to see what hotels are available? I just booked Anaheim Wyndham Garden Grove & got a decent rate which includes breakfast, shuttle, parking & resort fees. It cost a lot less than that.

3 of us 2 adults 1 child 8 years old. i would be checking in October 14th and out on the 19th.

It's $668 total cost at Anaheim Wyndham Garden Grove on getawaytoday.com w/o park tickets. It looks like $200 less than ES. This hotel is the old Crowl Plaza.

Thanks that looks like a good deal. It looks like they even offer the use of multiple forms of payments. I have a bunch of Hotel Giftcards to use so hopefully the deal is still available tomorrow when I get home from traveling......and staying in an IHG property all week.......funny that website could offer me a rate 200+ dollars cheaper then the best IHG could do to accomodate me for the issues they caused for me
