Hello all.

hotel help.

7 nights in October.

we want to be right accross the street. We’ve stayed at hojo and anahiem hotel before and want to be closer than that.

we have booked best western park place. Del sol or park vue haven’t seems to open bookings for October yet. (Anyone know when they do?)

For our budget we can just get a basic two full beds at best western. Based on the going military rate (which includes veterans!!!) at Del sol we could get two beds and bunk beds there for a little cheaper. Park vue seems the most expensive of the 3.

how close is Del sol? I can’t find any videos of people waking to and from it. From google earth is looks like it could be about the same as best western park placeif your room is in the back of best western..

there is 4 of us. Me, hubby, 8 year old and 4 year old. We really liked the bunk bed room at Hojo.

Del Sol would be just a minute longer than a rear room at BWPPPI. It is next to Desert Inn and Suites, in the back of that hotel.

BWPPPI would be two full beds? That would not be ideal for a couple, I would want at least a queen-sized bed. :)

Yes we would have to split and each of us sleep with a kid lol

Yes, the Del Sol is right behind the Denny's there. It would take you about 60 seconds longer to walk there than the BWPPI. :) Their breakfast isn't as varied as the BWPPI, but they do have it. I'd choose Del Sol out of those options, if it were me.

So, I'm going to be looking at this on a slightly different angle. Yes, Del Sol is a little further south from the crosswalk (width of Park Vue, then width of Desert Inn and Suites, then the length of Desert Inn and Suites). It's definitely a longer walk (by probably "double" but it's quick walk regardless!).

However, I fear you may be disappointed by the level of comfort. Unless they have updated fairly recently, their rooms are decidedly more "budget" than HoJo, Anaheim Hotel, Park Place, and Park Vue. I stay at their sister motel (Desert Inn and Suites), and, though they updated, they are still very "budget." I wouldn't expect much more from Del Sol.

Not sure when PVI opens up reservations for October but I do know they have a military discount and their location can’t be beat 😊

Stick with BWPPI..... the closest you can get to the crosswalk. I thought their standard rooms had 2 queens....? The rooms are spacious and maybe a roll away..... or check into an upgraded room (by calling the hotel.)

their lowest tier price is two standard double beds.

I’m so torn. They do have the mini suite with the pull out couch. That would work too but then the price really starts to trickle up.

I would throw in the “best western plus Anaheim inn” into this discussion (they have queen beds as their standard room)... it’s right next to the Denny’s... (it’s our go to hotel... good warm breakfast (we as Germans love it) and recently renovated rooms) and it’s often a couple of $ cheaper than the BWPPI...

with all those hotels close to the cross walk the walking distance really depends on your room and not the hotel you choose...
When booking your hotel I would try to “request” a room close to harbor and on the 1st or 2nd floor (those stairs to the 3rd floor really “killed” me last year)

we really aren’t picky hotel people. I travel for work often and to save my agency money I often stay at America inn or super 8. We just want space. 2 kids, a stroller, room to eat in the room.. we aren’t fancy.

With that in mind, have you looked at Desert Inn & Suites? It's super close and usually the lowest priced near the crosswalk.

No I haven’t and I don’t know why! For the same cost we could get a suite there or for even less than Del sol a two bed and pull out sofa.. hummmmm

We love the Park Vue Inn. Call and ask them when they’ll open up booking for October. The rooms have been recently renovated and the staff is great, and it is steps away from the gate. They will be priced a tad higher than the other hotels you mentioned, but it’s nicer and closer and if it’s in your budget, so worth it. They also have a returning guest rate once you stay. Although if you aren’t picky, Desert Inn and Suites is next door and they’ll be a lot cheaper. Make sure you factor in parking fees as well!

I've stayed at all 3. Park Vue is our go to. It is just as close to the crosswalk as the BWPPI. But really the distance is negligible between any of your choices. If its priced significantly more than the others, my second choice is the Tropicanna. Mainly because its decent overall, has a decent pool, and has one of the better military discounts. The BWPPI has one of the tiniest coldest pools of the hotels we've stayed at on Harbor, but the mini suites are nice. I won't stay at the Del Sol again, its a bit dumpier than the others to me.

Thanks all. We decided on desert inn and suites. A basic room, but it comes with 2 queen beds and a table and chairs. That will give us the space we want. Their website is great with virtual room your. I booked direct and requested a first floor near the front. Hopefully they can accommodate that since we are staying 7 nights. The basic room with a military discount was $137 Some of the nights at 109 for other nights. and we won’t need parking so it will only be 1200 for the whole week. What we saved we will add hoppers to our 5 day tickets or maybe do the WOC desert party.

Good job! And great rate! One question: With all your work travel, can you join a loyalty/reward program and start saving points toward free nights at a particular hotel chain in the DLR area? Now that you're visiting the parks on a regular basis and for longer stays, those free nights sure could come in handy!

yes! Most the hotels that I can stay at through work are Wyndham. So I do earn points. We stayed at hojo this past summer using some points as they are Wyndham. I don’t earn them super fast because we stay at a state employee rate but it does add up.

Regarding the military - have you thought about getting Salute tickets instead of paying full price for the hoppers? You can get them at the gate with valid ID. Cost is $181/ 3 day and $201/ 4 day. You can add Max Pass 3d / $225 and 4d/ $260. You are allowed 6 tickets per family but may get more for immediate family. Significant savings there!

we don’t qualify. My husband is a veteran. Salute tickets only apply to active and retired. Don’t get me started.

I am thankful for the few harbor hotels that include veterans in their discount.

I was not aware- that stinks. I'm retired Reserve with active duty during Desert Storm so I'm lucky I make the cut. Thank you for your service.
