Hotel guests get early entry?

Do guests staying on site at one of the Universal hotels gain early entry into the parks in the morning?

Yes, but hardly anyone takes advantage of it. Because of the permanent express pass called your room key arriving to be first in line isn't as important as it is in WDW. That will probably take a drastic change soon as people get up early to get a jump on the new Harry Potter attracion but if you are going to Universal or not interested in WWOHP then it's quite easy to sleep in and go to the parks at your leisure. That is the best perk in Orlando IMHO.
