OK, I've posted before to get ideas. Really never been to Disneyland but a Disney World veteran (just rode Expedition:Everest!). We're going to Disneyland early next January for our 25th wedding anniversary. I'd love to stay at a Disney resort but I don't think Paradise Pier is going to cut it and Disneyland Hotel seems what we want but it's the kid factor that's turning me off from that. I'd love to stay at the Grand Californian but unless we win the lottery between now and then, I can't see doing it (we're staying in San Diego on the beach before this for the husband's part of the trip and I'm making him happy there). So, offsite it is. I've "narrowed" down the choices to these four for various reasons. Mostly because they all have hot tubs/whirlpools and we love them and these have king size beds available (a must). Please make comments or alternative suggestions. I'm still a long way away from making reservations and I'm sure I'll change my mind a least a dozen times.

Anaheim Fairfield Inn
Best Western Park Place Inn
Park Inn & Suites
Tropicana Inn & Suites

Other things - we don't mind walking, in fact we prefer that to taking a shuttle; a sit out balcony would be great but I don't think that's going to happen from reading another thread; price is a consideration but I'm going with $100-$125 or a little nudge higher than that.

And I thought Disney World was complicated!

Of those 4 choices I would go with the Fairfield Inn , it is alot newer hotel so I think you would enjoy it more. The hotels closest to DL tend to show their age!

Doesn't the Candy Cane Inn have king-sized beds? It's much nicer than the hotels you've listed, and it does have a hot tub.

Another place you might consider is the West Coast Anaheim, which is under new management and has changed its name, although I don't recall to what--maybe a Radisson? It's about a three block walk and is a nice, high-rise hotel. I believe there are balconies there, too.

Sorry to go outside of your listed choices, but none of those motels says "anniversary" to me.

When you say "kid factor" at DLH to you mean the number of children there or parts of the hotel being geared toward kids?

If you mean the number of kids there, you are going to find that any hotel in the area! Its Disneyland, so there are families at every hotel. If you mean the hotel as in decor etc- I wouldnt let that be a concern. Its a nice hotel, with lots of disney magic and charm, but its not all geared toward children. There are a couple fairly nice places to eat (Granvilles and Hooks pointe as well as the Wine Cellar if you enjoy wine). The grounds are wonderful- there are waterfalls and koi ponds, a rose garden where they hold weddings, etc.

Out of the hotels you listed, the only one I've stayed at is the Fairfield. It is nice enough, but it can't compare to the charm of the DLH.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the DLH with or without kids. I also recommend the Candy Cane Inn - I know it's not on your list - but check it out. They have a wonderful free breakfast, their own dedicated shuttle that runs every 30 minutes, and they are within walking distance.

I would reconsider the Paradise Pier. It will be very nice and probably not have as much "kid factor" as DLH.
Candy Cane is always a good choice, the Howard Johnson might be another option. Everyone raves about these 2 offsite properties. You should be able to get a king room at both.
I would also recommend a 25th anniversary dinner at Napa Rose at GC.
Congratulations, not alot of couples make it that long. :thumbsup2

Thanks so far! I wasn't that thrilled with my original list which is why I went to the experts. Love all the suggestions off the list. Please keep posting other alternatives or helpful hints for the first four. I did think about Candy Cane Inn but wasn't sure about the "romance" factor. I will also reconsider the Disneyland Hotel. If it fits into the budget.

Park Inn.Man I sound like a broken record.Close,a hot tub and nice beds.About a $100 A night. :cool1:The "romance factor" you're on your own. :thumbsup2

If it's in your budget, then the DLH or PP will be the ticket for you.

For a more conservative budget, I'd choose:

Fairfield - nice rooms and decor, views of the fireworks, easy walking distance to parks.

Candy Cane - also nice rooms and decor, easy walking distance but also has a private shuttle if you don't want to walk, good breakfast.

Hilton Anaheim - an upscale hotel compared to Fairfield or Candy Cane, great views of fireworks from many rooms, on-site restaraunts and bar, room service, but it's quite a long walk to the parks so take a cab or a shuttle.

We just recently stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn, and although I thought it was great for families, and it's clean, and in a GREAT LOCATION, it's not a place to stay if you're looking for romance.

Have a wonderful time wherever you stay! :lovestruc
