I see on the DIS news bit that Disney are offering discounts on hotels in Jan, how does that work? Is it only for hotels booked through American Disney?

Yes, they are not available on Disney.co.uk.
Only direct with Disney or Dreams Unlimited (or any other US agent I would guess)

you can still book them through that US link. We have always booked with the cheepest of the 2 sites US vr uk and it is never a problem.
