Hey gang! I just came back from a trip to Southern California and loved it as much as you all did. We did the drive from San Diego to LA twice through Laguna, Del Mar, Oceanside...all those quaint beach cities. I remember that was the first podcast I listened to when you were recording there...when Julie was introduced!
So I was thinking of the Grand Floridian and how it compares to the Hotel Del Coronado. I am surprised Disney doesn't come out and say that they copied Hotel Del. It's simple to see it. In the offical line, they say that we're trying to recapture Henry Flager's resorts in Palm Beach from the turn of the century.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Disney is lying to me. Of course it's obvious that they patterned GF after Hotel Del. This is the hotel they claim in the official material is the inspiration.
I did appreciate all of the Hotel Del's history, but the lobby was a little too close to walking into the Hollywood Tower to que for Tower of Terror. Too dark and dreary for me.
Just wanted to share. I really enjoyed that area and would love to move there if real estate wasn't insane. It's been 107 here in Dallas this weekend and I miss the jacket weather on the West Coast!
