Booked to stay at Econo Lodge on IDrive with Thomsons and we have just had a call from them to say its now closed for referbishment and will be closed when we go in September. They have now put us in a better hotel, still on IDrive but so much better and better facilities and all original arrangements the same, ie park tickets, car hire...

I had doubts about the hotel originally after we booked it and started reading the reviews so this upgrade to the new hotel is a blessing in disguise!!

If anyone else has booked to stay at Econo Lodge, I am sure your travel agent will be in contact soon! :thumbsup2

The Rosen Inn I think it's called. Its still on IDrive so still close to all the parks :rotfl2: I have read reviews and they are far better than our original hotel and it has more on site too :cool1:

It's next door. I've stayed a both - the Rosen is much better but you do get more highway noise because of th building layout. Didn't bother us though.

Cool! The traffic noise doesnt really bother us so we should be fine. After previously staying on a main road and sleeping with the windows open when we went to Rome a few years ago, we can cope with anything :rotfl2:

The Rosen looks like such a better hotel then Econo. I cant wait!!! Can you remember if the shop and Starbucks inside are expensive? Just incase we ever feel like a quick snack.

For what it's worth, we stayed at the Econo Lodge and had a really good time. But we visited the Rosen Inn as well and I have to say; it is a nicer quality of hotel. Sounds like you got yourself a bargain!

We stayed at the rosen inn pointe orlando a few years ago - great hotel for the price.

There is a walgreens opposite for any bits and bobs you need and lots of eating places within walking distance.

Im so happy we are getting to move. :cool1: It looks lovely!!

Thanks for the heads up about Walgreens. We were wondering where the nearest supermarket would be

No idea; never stepped foot in the lobby other than to check in and out.

We never went in the shop either!

Walgreens is a decent size. Obviously dearer than Walmart but had plenty of snacks, drinks, beer etc.

I'm in the same position! We were booked through the Co-op and I found out about the Econolodge through a random Google search, the Co-op didn't know about it! They tried to move us to the Monumental Movieland hotel but that place has some awful reviews so I ended up paying a tiny bit more and moving to the Rosen Inn. Threads like this make me feel like I made the right decision! We're going in August so I'll let you know how it is!

That's really bad that they didn't even know??!!
We had our doubts after we saw the reviews about Econolodge! As part of the deal we booked with Thomsons we got a choice of 2 hotels and we went for the Econo but I was panicking after we booked it!! SOOOOO glad we have got to swap though AND got a free upgrade :cool1:

I've stayed at the monumental movieland aswell (albeit a good few years ago) and agree rosen is a better hotel and much better location.

I am actually so glad the Econo is going to be shut :rotfl2: Everyone seems to say good things about The Rosen Inn :thumbsup2

Excellent news!

:thumbsup2 for the upgrade.

Seems between your post and mine, Thompsons are on a roll this week - keep the good news coming I say!
