Hotel close to WDW main gate

What does this actually mean?

The hotel we are staying at says it's 1km from the WDW main gate. Does this mean MK? If it doesn't mean MK, how much farther is it. I'm trying to figure out travel times from hotel to MK.

It's the Homewood Suites Main Gate on Parkway Blvd BTW.

It could mean from anywhere to two or three minutes to 20 minutes depend on traffic.

1km is another way to say miles now. So it's basicly 1 mile to WDW gates.

The US is changing from miles to km and I have no idea why either it seems stupid to me.

Usually that means the hotel is one mile from where the WDW entrance road (World Drive) intersects with 192 or I4. It is another 3 miles or so to the parkinglot at the MK and another 10-20 minutes to get to the front gate of the park.
What is the name of the hotel?

daannzzz ~ thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to know...how much farther the gate was from the actual park & parking lot. It helps me figure out timing. The hotel is Homewood Suites Main Gate

Checking out the location of that hotel on Mapquest, I can see that it isn't too far and should only take a few minutes to get onto Disney Property. You could be at the Epcot Parking lot in 5-7 minutes if you don't hit stop lights or traffic.

1 km = 1 mile? You've gotta be kidding me. Isn't it more like 1 mile = 1.6 km?
