Hi everyone: I have just started venturing into this forum as DH and I are in the very beginning stages of planning an Adventures By Disney trip to England and France. We would want to add 3 nights at DLP at the end of the trip. We have absolutely no idea how to pick the right on-site hotel for our family. Can you help?

Here is a little info....we are a fam of 5 (DD9, DD7, DS12) and we travel to WDW 3-4 times per year. We primarily stay in Deluxe resorts and the Polynesian and Animal Kingdom Villas are our favorites. Cost will be a concern as the ABD portion of the trip is $$$$! Plus airfare to and from the states is really high right now. We may even use our DVC points if we have enough of them. We want a super conveinent location and a huge "WOW" factor for the kids. This will most likely be our only trip to DLP so we want it to be just right.

Also, a question from my DD9....is English spoken thruout the resort? She studies Spanish in school but does not have the option of French classes so she is very worried that she wont be able to talk to anyone. We would teach the children the basics (please, thank you, etc) as a pre-trip language lesson but she is still worried.

Thank you so much!!

Hi, welcome to the DLRP side of things.:)
I can only help on your second query, I'm afraid, but you can tell your daughter she will be fine with English only. My daughter is 10 and is quite happy to "Bonjour" and "Merci" but knows very little else. Everybody speaks English and we have never had any problem.

I can't help too much with your hotel query. Having never been to WDW I don't know how the DLRP hotels compare. Obviously the "WOW" factor comes most with the Disneyland Hotel itself but this is VERY expensive, and you will probably find it more so, with the dollar exchange being the way it is. I'm sure somebody else will be able to give you more specific answers though.

Well the biggest wow factor is the Disneyland hotel as its closest to the park and thats the top dollar one. They then go down in ratings, distance from the park and price as follows: New York, Newport Bay, Sequoia Lodge, Cheyenne, Santa Fe and then you are looking at off site. You really need to have a look on the Disney site to see each hotel and look at some of the rooms etc www.disneylandresortparis.co.uk

There are kids go free offers for most of the year at different dates so that also might be something to bear in mind. However as you are a family of 5 you might find your room choice restricted as most Disney rooms are 2 double beds or a mix of doubles/singles and designed for a maximum of 4 people. You can get bigger capacity rooms off site e.g. Explorers (10 mins away)

Most of the cast members are multi lingual and wear badges showing the languages that they speak so you shouldn't experience any issues with the language.

Hi-we are a family of 5 and you will find that The Disneyland hotel has family rooms and also the newport bay -we stayed in the DLH in March but booked 2 rooms as the cost difference was not that much and then we had the connecting rooms with a bit of privacy from the kids at night -to be honest the rooms were HUGE!!We have also had 1 night at Newport Bay in a family room which was a normal room (2 doubles )and a double pull out sofa bed ,again the room was pretty big .
For the Wow factor i would have to say the DLH -especially with 2 girls-but if it is really pricing up too much then the Newport Bay was gorgeous and only a 5 minute walk from the park
I can post some pics of the NPB family room and the DLH 2 connectings if this helps

Hi global_mom and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

As others have said you'll not have a problem with language.

The size of European rooms are generally smaller than those you will have been used to in the USA. All the Disney hotels are within walking distance. With the partner hotels only a short shuttle bus ride away.

Have a look at the Hotel faq to give you some ideas :)

If you've any more questions just ask away :goodvibes

Thanks everyone! I spent some time on the DLP website and know that we would love the DL Hotel. The prices were quite steep but I think that I understood that they include the park tickets. i will check into some of the others as well.

It is so much fun to start the planning even if this trip ends up being a year away! Thank you for the advice and for the warm welcome!!

global_mom,

You should know that if you want to use DVC points for your hotel stay at DLRP, that park tickets are no longer included in the points price, and you can only book a standard (not a family) room with points.

If you like DVC-style accommodations, you might want to look into the Marriott Vacation Club resort that is near DLP. I have never stayed there, but have driven past, and it looks lovely.

Have fun!

Thank you for the info. about the points! i had noticed that the points were much lower for 2008 but did not notice that the tix were no longer included.

i really love the idea of the Disneyland Hotel so I may have to really save my pennies for the next year!!

Thanks!
