Ok, in doing my research I'm curious about several hotels, 2 of which are Carousel Inn and Ramada Maingate. It seems to me that these 2 locations are somewhat opposite ends of the spectrum, so I would appreciate any input regarding:

Cost (planning to visit April next year)
Location
Value for the $$$
Good & bad of each

Ramada seems pretty inexpensive and I'm wanting to find out if I would regret saving a few bucks for a sub-standard hotel. Conversely I'd like to know that if I spend $100+ a night for the Carousel will I "know where the extra money went"?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The Carousel has very nice contemporary rooms. The Ramada has nice premium rooms but the others are very standard. While the Ramada is a little further both have a short walk to the park. Ramada has plenty of parking, parking at the Carousel can be a problem. The Ramada has a better than average pool for kids.

Ramada fills a gap. It prices lower than most of Harbor, but is not as basic as the bottom tier locations further away. It also has been slowly undergoing rennovations. While they have only done a little of thier big plans looking so far out there is a possibility of major construction.

Ramada Inn Maingate is one of the several harbor hotels I've stayed in. I'd rank it below the Tropicana, Camelot, and Park Vue, but it's not a slum by any means. The location is awesome and the free continental breakfast had decent options (pastries, toast, cereal, fruit). As Ski said, the pool is better than most for kids. I haven't stayed at Carousel so I can't compare the two directly.

I love the ramada Maingate. The premium rooms are wonderful, the standard are. . . Well. . . Standard :confused3. They are clean and comfortable. The carousel is clean and comfortable. They both offer free continental breakfast, they are both walking distance, and they both have pools. Parking at the Maingate is free, the carousel charges $8 a day.

I prefer the Maingate.

Hope that helps
