Hotel breaks??

We are wondering the same thing..... Going mid July - talk about hot and crowded! We have ADRs in the parks at 8 before park opening at 9, so we'll have to be out the door to get on bus by 7. I figure by lunchtime our gang will need a break......We are on DxDp, so we have a 12 lunch each day, planning to leave by 1:30 or so, and stay at hotel until 4:30 or so.... We might not see it all, but commando style touring with grumpy exhausted hot people may steal our magic!

TBS, we probably won't break on AK or DHs days, not enough time. We might after the parade at AK, but at DHS we hace FDP MM at 5:00, so probably not enough time. Hoping to catch the "rides" early, then shows and AC in the pm, hoping DD age 2 will nap!

If it is hot out we made it a POOL BREAK... My 4 yr old never napped once but enjoyed just playing in the pool, followed by an hour of hanging in the room watching tv or coloring quietly while me and DH got cleaned up and ready to go back out.She was great till park close

We are taking a break and staying offsite. I plan to leave at 1pm put my little one in the car and hope that she falls asleep, drive to Windsor Hills and then relax, eat a light lunch, shower, relax, and then head off again. Hopefully it works.

We've always loved taking mid-afternoon breaks to swim/relax. It really does give us a second wind to enjoy the night, especially if we're doing evening EMH's!

When we went in November/ December, we never took breaks. The park hours were quite short in early December back then so it wasn't worth it.
When we started having to go in the summer, we decided to try the break.
Surprisingly, we felt that we got MORE out of each day by returning to the resort. We would get up for morning EMH, tour until around noon, return to the resort until around 4pm, then head out to a different park for the evening.
We missed the hottest and most crowded part of the day and got some much-needed down time after getting up so early. Bliss!
We're going back in September and will be playing it by ear since the parks will be closing fairly early most nights, but I would expect to take a few naps during the week, especially on morning EMH days.

Yes. We tried this once when our kids were 3 and 6 and it was a much worse for us than our "commando" style of just going at park opening and staying until we were done for the day somewhere between 5 and 10pm. The travel effort to and from is what killed us. Much easier to simply take a break in the park as needed and let the kids sleep in the stroller if they fell asleep.

I agree about the transportation thing, so I think a lot of it has to do with where you stay. If we ever win the lottery;) and stay on the Monorail, I think we'd be much more likely to take more breaks during the afternoon, but dealing with the buses 2 more times a day is a pain.

We tried breaks for the first time last year (DS 6, and DD 17 months.) It wasn't horrible, but by the time we'd get to our resort and back it had already taken up anywhere from an hr. (at the very best) to 2 hrs. and then you have to fit the nap time in there. After the 2nd day of taking a break, we3 just didn't do it anymore, and it worked out much better for us, but we went in Sept. so it wasn't too crowded. If it got really crowded, I may go back more often, but we really don't plan on doing breaks this time. Good luck!

We have tried it both ways. Our kids are 7 and 10. We now don't take breaks. We get to the parks around opening and stay until around 5 or so. We then return to the resort and relax for the rest of the evening. That works best for us.
I like the way you think! That's what we do too!!:thumbsup2

We have taken our nieces twice, once when they were 3 and 10 and once when they were 6 and 13....they never took breaks, we started at 7am and kept going until they crashed at dinner...they loved it.

BUT...my big kid, my husband, he needs breaks so we get out of the room around 9am and head back around 2 and stay there until 5-5:30 or so.
