We are looking into booking an onsite hotel for the week before Thanksgiving, but we are unsure of exactly how long we will be staying. Would I be safe in booking the hotel for the maximum number of days we can stay, then later cancelling any days on the back end if we have to change, but still keep the rates on the front end? Or would they change our rates to whatever the current rates are when we would change our booking?

I would try to make sure you know the number of days you are going to be there and lock in that rate for those number of days for now. Watch for the rates to possibly fall and you can call and get that better rate if they drop.

If you drop days at the end this would be a totally new booking as you are dropping the number of days you had originally planned and you would loose the better SMSM rates for sure. This would eliminate your savings.

If you are AP holder you can call and adjust rates for AP rate when they pop up, but again changing and removing days changes your booking.

Thanks. This is exactly what I was wondering.

I would book the days you know you will definitely be there as one reservation. Then, make a 2nd or even a 3rd reservation for an additional days so you can drop those off as needed. Once you are sure what days you will need the hotel, just contact the hotel and tell them you would like to keep the same room for all of your "reservations"

Then the Stay more save more discount wont come into effect.

So if a person makes 3 separate reservations, they will have to pay a one nights deposit (plus tax) for each reservation at the time of booking.
If a room is $250 a night, that would tie up $750 of the person's funds until they made a decision of keeping all three reservations.

Reservations can be cancelled either 5 or 6 days out from arrival in order to get the entire amount refunded.
Cancel at 3 days out, you lose the one night deposit.

If the person decides to keep two separate reservations, does not mean they will stay in the same room for entire time.
They would have to contact reservations or the hotel for that information.

I missed that they were booking on site. I thought they were using an online discount travel site. I have done it that way before with and online travel site and it worked great. Booking with Disney is different ...
