Heading to DLR in 2 weeks. I have booked the Castle Inn for 4 nights. Now I'm thinking about switching to either Hotel Indigo or Red Lion. Anybody have experience with these places? I really just want a comfortable room that's within walking distance to the parks. Thanks!!

I have stayed at Castle Inn 3 times since March. Walk from room to gate is 10 min. I have no complaints about Castle Inn. If it's "just a crash pad" you want then you will be fine. It's a no frills place and was recently room renovated. Beds are comfy and the 2 queen rooms were spacious enough. I can't comment about your other choices....I have never stayed there. Enjoy your trip :-)

Out of Hotel Indigo or Red Lion...I would choose Red Lion. However, I would just keep the reservation at Castle Inn since it is closer.

I agree. I stayed there in Dec. it was a comfortable room that was walking distance to the parks. Even with a 3 yr old. It's closer than the other two you're looking at!

We have stayed there several times since the renovation. It was absolutely lovely for the $60-$85 we spent each time, but now they're at $117+.

We feel like HoJo is the very farthest we're willing to walk. Google Maps says that's .4 miles from BWPPI, which is directly across from DL pedestrian entrance. (And you should call BWPPI to check for openings - we're paying $134+$10 parking including breakfast next week [AAA rate]; our Last Minute Travel Club Castle Inn Rate for same dates was $117 plus a bit in extra fees from LMTC.)

Castle Inn: .3 mi from BWPPI.
Hotel Indigo and Red Lion: .5 mi from BWPPI.

Thanks all. I had to move my trip up one day, and had to cancel my Castle Inn reservation. I knew the rate would increase from the $89 original rate to around $140. I stayed there back in 2000, and it surely wasn't worth that much. Last night I was looking at the Red Lion, and a total of $375 with a $50 discount on Hotels.com. But this morning that rate had shot up to $144.

Since I started planning this trip, I've been drawn to Hotel Indigo. I'm a "Top Contributor" on Tripadvisor, and have been reading many reviews. Indigo seems like my type of place. Last year we a tayed at another IHG property (Holiday Inn on Walnut Ave) and loved it. Their rates are comparable, but Indigo has free parking. So I decided to spend the extra money and go with my first choice. Hotel Indigo it is.

I've heard great things about Hotel Indigo. Have a great trip! Come back and let us know how you like it! :goodvibes
