I am looking into hotels for a trip in early September (Labor Day week) with the Buy 3, Get 2 promotion. It will just be DH and I (mid 20s) and we have never been to any of the Universal parks or hotels before. We usually stay the Deluxe resorts at WDW, so we want something similar to that. We will be there 5 nights, 6 days and plan on visiting both parks, City Walk, and seeing the Blue Man Group.

For the same price, we can stay at either RPR with a water view or HRH with a garden view. Do either of these hotels have balconies/patios? Does one have better transportation options? Which would you recommend for us? Thanks so much for any help! :)

Neither have balconies or patios. For Hard Rock Park you don't need transportation since it is under a 5 minute walk to the park. For RPR it is about a ten minute walk.

We love both hotels but lately, RPR has been getting a better service record.

We prefer the RPR. It's setting is just so relaxing a beautiful.
It is just a short walk down a lovely path to City Walk and then to the parks. They also have a water taxi, but found walking faster.
We also love the beds at the RPR.

Resorts alone,I would compare DW Poly to Universal RPR..
I pulled up dates for ya-Sept4-10:

DW Poly cost before taxes, standard room--Total before taxes or discounts=$3,139

US RPR cost before taxes, standard room=$766
US RPR cost before taxes,club=$1,121

I done all this without AAA-SuperSaver or any discounts!!!BIG DIFFRENCE.

You can do alot with a extra 2k at Universal!!!

It depends. We started going in our early 30s, no kids here. We've stayed at all 3. It's hit or miss on service, so go with the ambiance you think you'll be in the mood for: cool, hip, in the center of everything, modern California mansion (HRH) or a teeny bit more remote, a little more quiet, tropical resort (RPR)?

We Love the themeing at RPR and last year we took our kids but this year it will be just me and DW and agree that the walk to the park was nice and this year we will be able to take our time and enjoy the walk :thumbsup2
