We leave in a little over a week and DS wanted to be Darth Maul for MNSSHP and it seems like any of the star wars characters would be just too hot. We suggested a pirate, but he would like some other options for costumes. Any ideas are appreciated!

Well there are a lot of Star Wars characters that would be a lot hotter than Maul I guess. He basically wears an open black Japanese style shirt and loose black pants. Was he just going to wear a mask or was he going for the full facepaint thing?

If he's really set on being a Star Wars character pretty much any Jedi is as cool as it's going to get as far as costumes go I'm afraid.

However, if you can get him to change his mind completely :teeth:, get a vest, a carrot, a hat, and a broom. Tie a short (but not too short) string around the carrot and hang it around his neck. Put on the vest and the hat. He can wear whatever outfit he wants.

Douse him with water. Voila! He's a melted snowman!

I had a nightmare before xmas tshirt made for this year...too darn hot for full on costumes

We did the party a few years ago, when my dd turned 13. She and her friend wore princess dresses...kind of funny to see those children's size princess dresses, Ariel and Aurora, on girls that were 5'5" tall...the dresses came to their knees...good thing they were both super skinny. Anyway...I dressed up as Malificent. Good thing it was chilly...we werer there on Oct 23 or so. Otherwise, we would have melted.
Going again, on Sept 5...no full costumes this time around. Maybe special teeshirts and hats. But that's it. It will be brutally hot and humid, even in the evening. I do love the melted snowman idea though!!

Great ideas so far! DS would probably not go for the princess thing though!:lmao:

Darth Maul wouldn't be the end of the world for sure.. I was thinking face paint but he was not, he wants a mask. Time has gotten away from me, so not sure I could even find it now if I wanted to!

I got a tan tshirt and matching shorts, fringed the sleeves, bottom of the shirt and shorts, add a headband for Tiger Lily.

Husband is smee, found a great striped t-shirt, and cut off teal scrubs for shorts, think we will be cool as cucumbers. Even made him a cool hat by using a long sleeve off a red tshirt, and rolled a sweatband inside. Looks great!

Exactly! We wear Nightmare Before Christmas shirts and blinking necklaces. I want the ability to move when getting on and off rides and not sweat!

This is what we were - Adventurers. We had khaki shorts, safari vests over short sleeve shirts, Tan "Boonie Safari Hats" from eBay, and our walking shoes/sneakers. The pockets in the vests were perfect for our tickets, camera, etc. so that we could be "hands-free." We were a big hit on Jungle Cruise.

I really really wanted to make myself a Shego from Kim Possible costume for MNSSHP, and my halloween party this year, but I don't think I'm up to doing it. I was worried about the heat with it anyways.

I happened to find some really cute cat ears from Michael's a few weekends ago, and I plan on wearing them with a halloween themed shirt.

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas! I need to figure it out, but now am worried about all the Hurricaines next week..

This is DH's costume this year. He's going to wear shorts and dark argyle knee socks. He might get a rifle to strap to his back. He's going to look like he stepped out of the Adventurer's Club! I'm getting him this pith helmet to complete the look

I might get an orange feather boa as well! :cloud9:

We'll be at the 9/5 party - I was cleaning out a closet for a garage sale and found 4 Hawaiian leis... there's 4 of us going on the trip! 4 fast, light, NOT HOT costumes thrown in the suitcase!

Last year I spent weeks making matching t-shirts and we got rained out - I'm just not feeling the effort this year... :guilty:

We're still batting around ideas...how hot does it get in the beginning of October? I have several ideas, but am worried about the heat/humidity at that time of year...

The joys of Halloween in hot weathered Florida LOL! We have to deal with this each year.....my babies/kids have never been able to wear those super cute full bodied animal costumes because they would have a heat stroke! Those Tony Arma costumes are so cute!

We have to settle for different things. Or modify the costume to make it cooler. This year we are doing something that can be tailored to hot or cooler weather, depending on what the temp turns out to be that day.

Our whole family is going as superheroes. I'm making us all capes to wear. We'll have matching black T-shirts on. We can either wear jean shorts or jeans depending on the temperature. We'll have masks that just cover our eyes. And we'll have the arm band type things that go around our wrists.
