i think ours has gone bad. where is the best place to buy one? i checked camping world but nothing is coming up under that name. do regular stores like lowes carry these? thanks!

Yes, just besure that the pressures/temps are the same. If it is just dripping try opening it and let some water run through sometimes they get a small piece of calcium stuck in them. JUST WATCH OUT FOR THE HOT WATER!!

well it is coming out full speed after filling the kitchen sink with hot water and/or taking a shower. i just hope that's all it is. we noticed it at disney last year on our last day and were not too worried. sure enough, first trip this year, it did it again so am hoping that's all that it is. so i can this at lowes? would it help to take the old one with us?

If you can't get it to stop, Camping World does carry them. Just call their main toll free number and tell them you need the number (toll free) to order a part (which is a separate store). Give that person your water heater info and he will get you the part.

If this is going to be part of a larger on-line order you are doing, he can usually give you the Camping World item number for that part & you can just add it to the rest of your order.

I noticed the exact same electric element at Home Depot for half of what I paid for one at CW.

Just remember it is a pressure relif valve. If it is coming out full force the water heater could be over heating and it is doing it's job. The thermostat may not be working causing the water heater to over heat making the valve open. How ever it is most likely the pop off valve.

Also make sure your water pressure regulator is not stuck wide open. Seem like you have a lot of pressure in the camper?

well when it started to act up last year at the fort, the water heater would not stay lit. i turned it on in the morning and it would be green and then right to red. i thought maybe it just needed a few times to try it and then we noticed it was coming out all over the place on the side of the RV. i would not think water in tank would already be too hot first thing in the morning. this was the last day of a 2 week stay; it was fine before that.
then this year, when we used it, it stayed lit and heated up but then leaked again. i will have to check a few things that you all mentioned. thanks!

We thought our valve was going bad, but turned out the water inside the heater compartment (and putting out the flame) was rain water getting in. DH found the gutter was plugged up with pine needles (actually took two years to figure it out because we thought it was the valve). So far haven't seen any more problems in our tank, but this place is very good:
