Hot Air Balloons in DTD

My daughter (6) has been dying to ride a hot air balloon and I have been putting it off because it is VERY pricey. Is it true they have hot air balloon rides in Downtown Disney and how much are they? Any info you could provide me with would be great. Thanks!

BTW, Characters in Flight is not a "hot air" balloon - its a helium balloon. Not that it matters, just trying to be accurate.

Can these tickets be purchased in advance? If so, how?

One thing to be aware of is that they stop running it if winds reach a certain MPH - and the last 4 times we've been at DTD (over the past 6 weeks or so) we've only seen it take 2 trips up. Apparently, even if it doesn't feel windy on the ground, it might be windy higher up and they can't run it for safety reasons. So, even if it's during normal operating hours, it may not actually be running.

Yea, I was there last week and only saw it go up a few times. It is tethered by the way and looks like abog kick ball!
