Hostel?

That's why I liked the movie Signs, it was very subtle but very effective. IMO

Signs really disturbed me. It brought back a lot of emotions from the 9/11 attacks.

Really? The 9/11 attacks? How so?

BTW, are we talking about the same movie? The one I meant is the one with Mel Gibson and the aliens by M. Night Shamalayn(sp?). Isn't that called Signs?

Yep, Momma, we are talking about the same movie. Signs was about an alien invasion and how peaceful everyday life was suddenly amd unexpectedly threatened. In the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks in Washington, it certainly seemed that life had changed for good. There was a profound fear of more attacks and an a general sense of anxiety in the city. The unknown was frightening and for a while it seemed as if we were under siege.

Now you must understand that I live three blocks from the White House. I woke up on 9/12 to the sound of armored vehicles on the street outside my window and for a week there was a highly visible National Guard presence in downtown Washington. Fighter jets patroled the skies over Washington for a couple of months. Streets were closed and rerouted. The 9/11 attacks were traumatic for the whole country, but they really did change life in Washington and New York.

Okay, I understand what you mean now. I can see how that would bring up certain feelings for you. Very scary indeed. Worse than any "slasher" movie could ever hope to be.....

While Pulp Fiction happens to be one of my favorite movies, you couldn't pay me enough to sit through Hostel. I don't like scary/gory movies - add in torture scenes, and I would be freaked out for weeks! (I still close my eyes in some of the Pulp Fiction scenes!)
