Hostage situation - Orleans Prison

Posted this on another thread, but there is breaking news that there is an ongoing hostage situation at the Orleans Parish Prison. Sounds like a deputy from a neighboring parish evacuated his kids there temporarily and they are part of the hostage taking. (I won't even go into WHY were those kids there????)

It seems some of the prisoners took advantage of the evacuation order to set up this hostage situation.

Can it get any worse??

It saw video of one prison..I assume it's the same one, where they had all the prisoners sitting outside on a street because the jails were filling with water. They weren't far from where the Superdome is located.

I have a feeling when this is all over, there's going to some heavy duty reviews of their emergency policies.

Yes, that's the one. Orleans Parish Prison backs up to I-10. Supposedly those prisoners were under armed guard, but somehow there was a breach in security inside the prison.

Holy hell! That is terrible! How much worse can this situatuion get?

No kidding. DH just commented that it looks it's turning into a real-life "Escape From New York."

His concern now is for the safety of National Guard and other troops that will be going in as part of the resue efforts.
