Hi all,
Considering trying the horseback riding at WDW next month.
I know that you are not allowed to bring things such as cameras on the trail with you.

My question is: is there a way to get a quick photo, either before or after the ride? It would be great to have a photo of DD with her horse just for memories sake.

Smallworld,

Here's what I would do if I were you.

The horse corral for the rides is up at the checkin/Outpost area behind the bus stop. When they start out they cross the road and then walk into the woods between loop 2800 and the parking lot at the 5 o' clock position from 2800 (which is now where golf carts are rented from/returned). I've indicated the route with the red arrow.

They do a lollipop route-they go out a ways, walk in a circle, then come back in the same way. So get a picture of DD when they start out and cross the road. Then later go to loop 2800 and it's a short distance behind the cabins to the trail and get a picture of her coming back in (indicated in yellow).

Don't be loud or startle the horses and take any direction from the wrangler as they go by. DD atop the horse would probably make a great picture.

PS - when they load up in the corral you can be on the outside of the fence and maybe get a good photo shot.

Bama ED - Thank-you so much for your response! It sounds like a good plan.

Should I assume it would be too difficult to get a picture if I decided to go on the ride, too?

My camera is small enough to fit in my jeans pocket. But, I certainly don't want to scare the horses or be the crazy, I won't follow directions, parent. She's just talked about riding a horse for so long and couldn't when she was younger due to an allergy. (That, and the fact that I couldn't have afforded the lessons, LOL) Her breathing has gotten so much better over the years and I think she would love to have a picture as a memento. She is such an animal person! Her current ambition is to be a vet (like so many girls her age.):goodvibes

We brought our camera. The CM even took a photo of us on the horses while on the trail.

Thanks for this! Was this (relatively) recently?
One little picture is all I'm asking. LOL

And, Bama ED, thanks again for the details. :goodvibes

Not too recent, just over two years ago. My husband and I were also the only people on the trail with two female CM leading us. We went out for the first ride of the day.

Does anyone know if WDW offers group discounts for horseback riding? Thanks in advance for any guidance!

I dont know if they do or dont but when I looked at prices it was fairly cheap. IIRC it was $46 for 45 minutes.

For reference its like $95 for 10 minutes parasailing.
