No I am not offering any, just need help planning a menu with some.
22 people including 7 kids. Looking for "substancial" type appetizers, since there will be no "real meal".. SO far I have shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers, pigs in a blanket, hot crab dip, spinach ravioli need about 6 more.

Any ideas?

Southwest Cheese Dip

8oz Sour cream
8oz Cream cheese
1/4 Cup Hot Salsa
Splash hot sauce (Red Hot or Tabasco)
2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 round bread
1 extra loaf of bread

Blend all ingredients except cheddar w/ mixer
Fold in Cheddar cheese
Bake at 350 for 1 1/2 hours in a hallowed out bread bowl wrapped in foil.

This is really good and filling.

Meatballs in BBQ sauce.

Artichoke dip

Cucumber sandwiches (mini rye bread, cream cheese sliced cucumber)

Bacon wrapped water chesnuts

Meatballs in a crockpot? (Costco and Sam's Club both have yummy premade ones, add barbeque sauce or spaghetti sauce, toss a couple boxes of toothpicks near them and eat.)

Chicken wings are good too, my favorite sauce for them is 1/3 honey to 2/3 soy sauce. Mmmmmm.

I know you already have the shrimp cocktail, but these shrimp are really VERY good! They are just a little putzy to make, but they are delicious!

Buffalo Shrimp

10 bacon slices
2 pounds peeled, deveined tail-on jumbo shrimp (called U-15 in chef-speak)
1/2 cup Louisiana hot sauce (not Tabasco)
3/4 cup blue cheese dressing
4 ribs celery, cut into sticks
1 lemon, cut into 6 wedges
Equipment: 30 wooden toothpicks

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Arrange the bacon on baking sheet and bake until half-cooked, about 6 minutes. Let cool and cut each slice into thirds. Reserve the baking sheet—don’t drain the fat.

Stretch 1/3 of a bacon slice tightly around the center of each shrimp, and secure with a toothpick. Arrange the shrimp on the reserved baking sheet and bake until just cooked through and the bacon is crispy, about 6 minutes more. Immediately transfer the shrimp to a bowl and gently toss with the hot sauce.

To serve, pour the blue cheese dressing in a bowl and place in the center of a serving platter, surrounded by the shrimp, celery sticks, and lemon wedges.

I mix grape jelly and heinz chili sauce and put in a crockpot over costco bought meatballs. It is always a huge hit.

What ages are the kids, btw?

If they are younger, I'd suggest deviled eggs, and maybe ham slices wrapped around a smear of cream cheese and a sliver of pickle. A fresh fruit tray would probably go over well, too.

Swedish Meatballs seem to be a big hit with drinkers. Apparently easy too.

I do this, but with cranberry sauce and chili sauce. YUMMY!

I did an appetizers only party for my mom's retirement. We did many of the suggestions above, but I also cooked a spiral cut ham, and had it sliced, with finger rolls for small sandwiches.

That sounds really good. Different too.

All these great suggestions. Thanks

BTW the kids are between 3-10 so pretty easy to please.

Since you have so many meat items how about a veggie item.:)

Redneck Caviar

2 cans of black eyed peas, drained
2 cans of white kernal corn, drained
2 cans of tomatoes with chilis (I use Rotel)
2 green peppers chopped small
3 tomotoes chopped
bunch of green onions chopped, I use about half way up the stem, about 12
1 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of garlic salt
1 tsp of dried parsley flakes
1 16oz. bottle of Italian Dressing

Mix well, let settle over night, and serve with scoop corn chips.

Enjoy!
Kim

I make phyllo pizza appetizers. Put 6 or 7 sheets of phyllo dough on a cookie sheet (butter between each sheet). Top with chopped roma tomatoes, parm cheese, some basil and a little olive oil. Bake for about 20 minutes and cut diagonally to make little mini diamond-shaped pizzas.

I love appitizers. You could make a whole meal out of them!!
