Horror Stories Wanted

At Teppanyaki, we were watching the chef prepare our meal on the hot, steaming grill that also doubles as the dining table when I became aware of a somewhat rhythmic sizzling noise. Was the chef doing something fancy with his cutting knives or performing intricate food flipping tricks? Nope. Further examination revealed the mysterious sizzling noise was simply beads of perspiration falling from the overheated chef’s forehead onto the hot grill. And of course into our meal. Didn't eat much that evening!

LOL That is so funny jarestel.
Having managed a restaurant, I can say that not knowing what goes on behind those swinging doors is better than knowing.
I thought you asked for a little salt with your dinner?
So sorry.
At least it wasn’t a bit of the red sauce from his finger.

YUCK!!:crazy2:

just to make a comment on that planet hollywood one... i think they are ALL like that. We have one here in NYC and the food is digusting and overpriced. I could point to to a few diners near times square that have MUCH better burgers and drinks. The only thing worth it is they do have cool stuff in there, and some hot waiters ;) As for the actual dining part, its gross. And ive heard this from friends who have gone to planet hollywoods in other states too. Overall not a good franchise.

You people warned me not to eat at Coral Reef but my neighbors eat there all the time and love it and I figured how bad could it be. Well, pretty bad. We ate there for lunch last month. We were seated pretty quickly as we had early ADRs. Our seat was perfect I must say. It was on the upper level but right by the partition thing so there was nothing between us and the view and because we were on the upper level we could see over everyone. So far so good. Well, DS was really hungry so we ordered the lobster cream soup. It is kind of like a lobster bisque and it was pretty good. Not as good as I would have expected. I get better bisque here at our local cajun restaurant. We got a basket of bread which was very good and thankfully we had it because DS did not get filled up with his food. He ordered the filet, talapia I believe, which was grilled with green beans. The filet was just average size, about 6 inches by about 3 and very thin. This was so seasoned that DS could not eat the edges of it and he is not a picky eater by any means. The green beans were practically raw so he ended up eating 2 baskets of bread and the soup for the most part. My entree was something else though. I ordered the caesar salad with fried scallops. I love caesar salad and I love scallops and figured I could not go wrong. WRONG!!! The caesar salad consisted of about 5 large pieces of lettuce. I mean, whole leaves of lettuce, not torn at all. On top of this was a few croutons and even fewer fried scallops. The dressing was the most bland caesar dressing I have ever tasted. I was just sick that I had spent this much money, $60 at least, on lunch of all things. And it was horrible. I have learned my lesson. From now on if most of the posters here say not to eat somewhere I will listen.

The worst dining experience we have ever had was at POFQ we ordered a Pizza to be delivered to our room. And it was the nastiest pizza we have ever had EVER! Oh my God it was just foul. And it cost $26.00. We each had a piece, none of us ever finished it and that was that. We chose to go hungry. I actually have found it is hard to find a bad place to eat there. But I know the secret to bad food in WDW is the room service Pizza.

I have had that pizza and it is pretty bad. It is like a bad frozen pizza.

I too am now a firm believer in this. If I don't see it, it didn't happen!

Nothing real bad here. Had to wait about 45 minutes or so to get into Kona's when half of the restaurant was open. They apparantly did not have enough wait or kitchen staff.

The really weird one was at Boma when the wait person sat down at the table and ate one of the desserts that the kids had picked up but had not eaten. I'm still not sure how I should have reacted to that one, but it was definitely weird.

Of course, buffets have their own catagory of things I wish I hadn't seen.

I have three...

1. H&V, we waited an hour past our reservation time, seated next to dirty tables that were not cleaned off the entire time we were there, a server who never took away our dishes so we put them on the dirty tables next to us and the same server never brought us a drink refill...thank god I had a bottle of water with us.

2. Tomorrowland Noodle Terrace, nasty horrible not fit for human consumption food that we threw in the garbage, waste of $26

3. Chef Mickeys, food poisoning...the food was downright BAD and I ate a pasta dish that no one else ate...and I was the one that ended up with the food poisoning.

But in 20 or so years of going this is it, not a bad tally actually.

The Luau in February 2007. It was category 1 seating, supposed to be a great view so paid extra, supposed to be a good show, and ok food. Kids were revved up. I was looking forward to seeing the flame dancer.

It was a great view...behind a post. Must have been a premium post because after all we paid extra just to sit behind it! And we were not thankful. We were unable to position chairs to see one side or the other because of the way the tables were set up. That post became the star of the show. You could see pieces of fabric waving from side to side. Maybe it was a failed animatronic post. Bits of flame also shot from side to side. Every once in awhile we coulds see an arm or a leg. When speaking to the manager he said the show was below par because the night was so cold. So maybe we didn't miss much. Being a cold night you can guess what the food was like.

Of course the waiter, being prepaid, kept warm in the kitchen in the back. The food, once it finally arrived, was inedible so we filled up on bread. Every once in a while the waiter poked his nose out but he kept forgetting the requests for hot tea and cocoa. Every time he said he was sorry he patted me on the shoulder like that would make it better. My shoulder became quite sore. The kids wouldn't even touch the dessert. Once I found the invisible waiter, I asked if we could have some ice cream or cookies instead but nope only what was on the menu.

Two days later after I had calmed down and the children had left Florida, I contacted the manager of the Poly. I was directed to a different manager as the Luau is contracted outside Disney. I got an answering machine. I explained to the answering machine I had not called earlier because I was to angry and did not want to make a fool of myself. I told the answering machine that I was not leaving WDW without this issue being resolved. Therefore, dear answering machine, please have a person contact me before *** or I would head up the ladder. Later I did get satisfaction and the manager was very nice. I did tell him if the weather was the problem then the show should have been cancelled. He must have agreed as we were compensated.

Oh, the flame dancer? Go to the Lion King Show in AK. Much better.

tony's town square- the service was great, all of the staff was very friendly, we even had a great seat! right by the window. the food was horrible. i will never eat there again. it was soooo bland. you get better italian food at olive garden. DS didn't even finish his pizza.

the only other time i had a bad dining experience at disney was completely due to a whiney niece. they had nothing at all the eat there. there wasn't a single restaurant that had anything to please her. i offered to send her home early. lol...won't be taking her back again anytime soon.

Marrakesh....Not only the worst dining experience at WDW but our worst dining experience anytime, anyplace, anywhere.

Extremely rude, surly waiter. I guess it was good that he was never around.

Non-existent entertainment. Musicians and dancer were out for no more than 5 minutes the whole time we were there.

The food was absolutely terrible; dried out and overcooked.

Please note: prior to this, Marrakesh was one of our top 5 favorite restaurants at WDW and the whole family always looked forward to eating here.
