We just traded our timeshare week for Horizons by Marriott, and after reading some reviews on tripadvisor, I'm a little nervous.

Has anyone had any experience with Horizons. One reviewer said he seen 3 cockroaches, another said construction is awful. A good many reviews are good, but I would still like to have some DISers weigh in with their experiences.

Thanks

I was there last week and had no problems at all. As for construction, the new pool is open, as is the water works play area. The newest building is about ready to open. They are putting furniture, etc in it now. No other building is under construction at the present time. The oldest building appears to be in the process being rehabbed, but didn't affect my stay at all.

Thanks John :)

Do you know if almost all the villas have the big screen tv? It's reassuring to know that someone who stayed there recently had a good time. I picked Horizons because it seemed kid friendly and I like Marriotts.

We stayed there three years ago with our kids (at the time 5 and 1) and had a great experience! In fact we wanted to exchange our Interval unit for Horizons but had to go with the Wyndham Palms because nothing was available at Horizons (and boy have people ripped the Wyndham on tripadvisor). Even though much of the resort was not open when we stayed there (too new) our unit was beautiful and spacious with a really "fun" decor...the beds were comfortable, bathrooms huge and clean, kitchen well equipped, quiet, nice screened porch. Plus our kids LOVED the pirate ship in the pool...they would have been happy to play there all day! Enjoy!!

Stayed there last March and loved it. Exceptionally clean. Great experience. It's Marriott, I'm shocked to hear stories about roaches. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

during construction I am not surprise.
roaches are all over the south. they are HARD to get rid of - not possible but hard.

the Big ones don't live inside they just VISIT - through an open door or open window or some opening.

during construction they are probably more likely to follow people inside.

oh snakes also don't like construction - so you are most likely to see more of these too...

don't go near snakes - don't allow your children to go near snake. a snake in a panic over construction WILL bite.... So don't go near it. It is upset and looking for a peacefully area.

Thanks Spicey... I think :crazy2: . I'll just keep the part of the snakes to myself. My mother would freak.
