Is hopping from MK to Epcot JUST for dinner feasible? advisable? crazy?
What if you want to return to MK for EMH afterwards, does that make it less feasible? less advisable? crazier?

I was going to do dinner at Kona, but may want to do that after Animal Kingdom one day instead. Some of the other restaurants I want to try are at Epcot. Just wondering how easy/difficult this is to do since they are both monorail parks.

It shouldn't be too tough. Just hop the monorail from the MK to TTC, then monorail from TTC to Epcot. It will take a little time getting back and forth however.... If you don't mind the traveling time, I'd say go for it.

Although we haven't done it just to eat dinner, we've traveled back and forth between MK and Epcot using the monorail several times. I think it's not only feasible to do this just for dinner, it's really pretty convenient. It can take a little time waiting for the monorail, but usually not long (and we travel at busy times) and the monorail ride itself is part of the overall Disney experience for us. :)

I would say it would be worth it....if you were having to go to your resort then to another park just for dinner and back somewhere else, I would say maybe not. But Epcot/MK are easy to travel between....and Epcot restaurants are quite worth it IMO.

Hi, Two more comments: first, I noticed your beautifiul children in your signature. As the earlier poster said, my two guys think the monorail is a Disney Ride, right up there with the water rides and roller coasters, so they'll probably love it. This should help the plan.

My only concern is the time it will take to do this. It could easily take 45 minutes or more to go between parks then most of the the restaurants at Epcot are in the back of the park in World Showcase. That's a good fifteen minutes to walk. Now the little guys have been in the stroller for an hour. Then there's time to sit at dinner and then the hour to get back. It might be tough on them.

IMHO, I'd plan time for them to walk and dawdle on the way there and something to stretch their legs before they go back. My guys won't make it past 9pm, even at 2 and 5 yo, so it might be tight getting back to the park for EMH. On the other hand, if they'll sleep in the stroller with a full tummy and you do the baby/kid swap at the parks and watch the parades, it might be just right. It's up to you, you know what fits their schedule.

Enjoy!

We've done this twice and didn't have any problems. You just have to give in extra time to get back and forth. It's a very do-able plan though, even with little ones.

It is certainly possible but if I were you, I would go to Kona instead especially if you do indeed plan to return to the MK for EMH.

On your AK day, you could do dinner in Epcot.

You could always just take the Epcot monorail for fun on a night that you have dinner at Epcot. I totally agree that the monorail itself is an attraction. :sunny:

we've done it often. we kind of like the "power walk" back to the epcot WS restaurants as it burns off a few calories. :goodvibes

But if your kids are currently the age of the kids in the pics, i'd be prepared to call it a night if it turns out that going back to MK would be meltdown.

but the other nice thing is that there's time to catch a snooze or just chill out on the monorail over to epcot and back

Thanks everyone. The kids will NOT be with us. This is a trip just for husband and I. Sounds like the consensus is that this is doable, especially for just adults. I am curious about how much time it takes to get from one park to the other. Would Kona be faster? Is it still two monorails or only one to get to the Poly? Sorry for my ignorance . . .

It is very doable and we did it in May WITH the kids.

We spent the day in MK, then took the Monorail from MK to Transportation Center, then took the Epcot monorail. We went to the Rose and Crown for dinner, stayed in Epcot for a while, then walked up to the Boardwalk (we were staying at the Beach Club Villas).

It is definitely just as easy to walk back to the Monorail, and get back over to MK. Expect about 30 minutes travel time because of the switching of monorails.

If you don't have the kids along, I'd go to Epcot in a snap--much more romantic, and so much fun to browse along world showcase as grownups.

Kona would be MUCH faster and does not involve 2 monorails--you can walk to the Poly from the TTC with a number of options to get to the MK; you can ride a boat from the MK to the Poly, or you can ride the monorail directly from the MK to the poly

Yes, Kona would be faster as you just take the resort monorail to get there and the rstaurant is steps from the door.

To go to Epcot from the MK, you will need to take the express monorail or ferry to the TTC and then transfer to the Epcot monorail. Then you walk to the back of Epcot to get to the restaurants unless you're going to Coral Reef or the Land. I would allow an hour to get there although it could be faster. Completely doable in fact we have gone to Epcot for lunch after an MK morning.

The thing about the AK/Kona plan is that AK is about as far away as you can get on property from the Polynesian. So I would eat at Kona on your MK night and then hop back on the monorail for EMH.

But either way, have fun! :cool1:

You could take the Boardwalk bus from the MK, and then stroll the Boardwalk on the way to Epcot and the entrance is at the world showcase. It is a nice walk, and I'd guess about the same amount of time.

Definately doable either way! Have a great time!

we hoped just for lunch one day. we knew that our not quite 3 year old twins weren't really up for most of epcot, so we went to mk in the morning, took the monorail over, saw living seas and ate at garden grill. they fell asleep on the monorail back to MK. we transfered them to their strollers, where they stayed asleep, and dh and I took turns riding grown up rides. it worked out fairly easily.

I would not do it. It takes too much time and significant effort to travel between parks and then to walk all the way to the World Showcase. How about eating at California Grill instead? :)

We do it all the time. We monorail over and monorail back. It might be easier to bus to BW/BC/YC and walk to Epcot, but we love riding the monorail.

Have a great time!

We do that all the time! The food at EPCOT is awesome!!!! We love to go to WS for dinner or lunch for that matter! Just hop on the monorail and change at the TTC! :cool1:
