OK...having a major decision to make here. We are planning our trip to Disney first time with children for July 2004. i am debating on splurging on the 4 day hoppers. It will cost a pretty penny to do so. We will be there for 7 nights and we are driving down. The first day we arrive I want to relax and enjoy the hotel pool and that kind of think. Day 2 I would like to do Animal Kingdom...day 3 MGM , and days 4 & 5 Magic Kingdom. Last day to recoup at the beach. I really don't think we will be doing more than one park per day with a 4 and 7 year old . My question is .... Is it possible to buy each of us 2 of the two day/one park passes? That would give us our 4 days of parks and would cost substantially less than purchasing hoppers for each of us. Question number two: Can I visit Magic Kingdom twice with those tickets? I'm not sure how they work. question three: will it be harder to get into the park knowing that I have to purchase these passes at the gates? One last thing..are these only good for visiting one park for two days, or can I visit two different parks on two different days? Need advice here...not sure what to do. I checked all the disney vacation help sites and still can't find an answer. Thanks for listening.

Hello and welcome to the planning boards! I think you should go with the park hoppers. Reason being, they really give you that flexibility to do what you want for the four days! If you buy single day tickets, you can only go to one park that day.

Since you're going in July, you will want to go to the parks early, then back to your hotel to enjoy a swim (it will be slightly hot!), then back to the parks at night. The Park Hoppers will allow you to change your plans without penalty!

I am an obsessive planner, but end up changing our plans every trip due to weather, or maybe missing a ride on one day and having to run over to Epcot to try for Test Track one more time before we go home!

Thanks so much for the quick reply...and thanks for the welcome! After reading my post over and over, I did decide to do the hoppers for us...it just gives us much more flexibility, you definitely confirmed my decision. I believe I have plenty of time to get everything together. All these websites and message boards are very overwhelming for the first-timers! LOL I'm sure you'll be seeing me hanging around here often. Thanks for the info!

Yes but you wouldn't want to buy them both at the same time since they do have an expiration. The second day must be used within four days of purchase. So if you bought the first tickets then waited until you needed them to buy the second tickets you'd be fine.

Question number two: Can I visit Magic Kingdom twice with those tickets?
Yes you can. You can only visit one park on any day but it can be any one that you choose.

question three: will it be harder to get into the park knowing that I have to purchase these passes at the gates?
No harder than anyone else purchasing passes before entering. If you're staying at a Disney Resort, you can get them from the Guest Services window there instead of waiting to get them at the park.

One last thing..are these only good for visiting one park for two days, or can I visit two different parks on two different days?
As stated above, you can only visit one park on any day but it can be any one that you choose. You may use it at the same park both days or different parks on each of the days. Your choice.

Maybe I misread something, but I don't see how you could think that buying single day passes is cheaper than a hopper.

According to the ticket price chart at wdwig.com, the price for an adult 2-day, 1 park pass (including tax) is $101.17 each. You would need two of these per person, bringing the total cost to $202.32 per adult.

Ticketmania.com is currently selling the 4-day hopper pass for $203.00 each, with free shipping.

Virtually no difference in cost. When you are looking a prices, make sure you discern whether tax is included or not, because that can make a substantial difference. If you were comparing the "gate" prices on the two options, then you may have seen a moderate difference. But there are pleanty of reputable third-party ticket vendors willing to sell you a pass at about 5% off of Disney's gate prices.
