Hopper to AP Upgrade, What's the value of the hopper?

Hi All, I tried to search before posting, but it's not working right now. I would like to purchase some hopper tickets and upgrade to annual passes. I was told that Disneyland uses the actual amount paid for the hopper regardless of the amount printed on the back of the ticket. Someone else told me they use the amount printed. Does anyone know which value they use to calculate upgrade amount? Thanks!

We just did this today and they used the amount printed on the back. Hope this helps.

What value do they credit for the City Pass? I will need to upgrade the CP 3 day hoppers to either 5 day hoppers, or APs with DVC discount.

When I upgraded mine, they used the advance purchase price which is currently $149. You will pay the difference between that and the gate price for whichever pass you are upgrading to.

To more specific, this is how it worked for us:

Regular cost of Premium Annual Pass: $349
DVC Member discount: -20
Trade in value of hopper -149

Total Price paid at gate $180 each or $360 for 2.

We usually get deluxe annual passes but to renew those would've cost us $458. With some creative thinking we were able to get premium passes for the price of deluxe. First, we bought the hoppers off EBay. The key is to find someone selling the last day of a 3+ day hopper BUT make sure to ask them what the printed value on the ticket is since comp tickets can't be upgraded!!!. We bought ours for $100 and then used those to upgrade to an premium annual pass so technically the total cost was $460 which is still a great deal considering the cost of two premiums would have been $658 even with our DVC discount.

Basically, we saved $200.
