Our travel agent in America has just said that our Disneyworld tickets are not mailed to us prior to arriving but rather they are encoded onto our room key.

Just wondering how this works?

Thanks!!

When you check into your WDW hotel each person in your party will receive a credit card type key. Its your room key/ park hopper ticket/ charge card all in one.

As a ticket you will need at the first park provide a finger scan when you put your card in which takes a few moments to set up ( I found they didn't worry so much about my kids) .neach time thereafter you must scan your finger as you enter card.

As a charge card you can book up all costs like dining, snacks, souvenirs at the parks, WDW hotels . We ensured the kids cards were barred so they couldn't do their own shopping!

If you have a dining plan it remembers everything and gives you a running total of used and unused credits each time you use it. It was very helpful for us with a party of 5

Hope this helps!

Ps. The cards are gold or blue from memory and we kept ours in lanyards to ensure we didn't lose them and were handy when we needed them

BobbyRach did you book your WDW accom through DCL?

The credit card sized card does all that Melb5 says (and I'd picked up from the DCL section that it even becomes as your stateroom key on the ship) but for some reason our DCL booked resort key / charge cards couldn't have park tickets incorporated, so we got a second set for that from the concierge in the morning.

(No real drama) but we ended up with 4 sets of cards as the Dream's were separate, DCL logo and we got another set of blue ones for our post cruise resort.

I'd add - IMO unless you're at WDW for < 4days, I would go for the 1 park per day basic ticket as the parkhopper option adds significant per day expense and really there's at least a whole days worth in each park.

We only "hopped" once (2nd visit to Epcot via monorail to MK for fireworks) probably because we'd paid for it and not otherwise used it more than anything else.

Your can add anything to the basic ticket (more days, hopper, waterparks, etc) anytime but you can't get credit for taking anything you haven't or won't use off!

We booked our Disneyworld accommodation and Disney cruise through a travel agent (Small Word Vacations). She has been excellent and gets back to me straight away...i just wanted to double check a few things as it does seem odd booking through an american travel agent and they doing all the work and not really costing you anything extra!

So far so good though and she has even made our dining reservations when I couldn't get through!!
