I wanted to know what everyone thought about the hopper pass. I am trying to save some money on our upcoming December trip and was thinking about getting the basic ticket for 7 days. (instead of hopper option). It saves about $110. Is it worth it to switch or should I stick with it? Can I go back to the same park at night?

Thanks

Yes, you can go back to the same park at night.

The park hopper would allow you to utilize EMH http://allearsnet.com/tp/emhour.htm without having to fight heavier crowds during the day. For instance, if MK opens early for EMH, it will be more crowded during the day. You could go to EMH (if you're staying onsite) at MK, & then hop to another park that might be less crowded. This might not be important to you. If not, just plan your days according the the EMH schedule above, trying to avoid the A.M. EMH park.

A hopper pass gives you more flexibility when it comes to dining. Also, you have to consider the parade schedules. Certain parades might not be offered on the day you plan to attend a certain park.

I personally like the hopper option with that many days. I like the flexibility it gives me. Just my $.02.

Are you staying onsite? If you aren't, you wouldn't be able to do the EMHs, anyway. In that case, go to the park without the extra hours. I think that the hopper part can be added at any time so if you decide during your trip that you want to hop you can then pay the extra $ and do it. Maybe someone can confirm that.

After our last trip, I realized how much time was wasted traveling from park to park, or "Hopping". All these people that are hopping are making a very nice day for those who are IN the parks- because they are NOT there. What a waste in travelling. Next time we go, we'll see more as we will stay in one park for the day.

I personally couldn't do Disney without hopping.I have seasonal passes and I go often so I pick and choose which attractions I want to do at each park and If I don't want to eat at MGM I head over to EPCOT.It gives me flexibility to do the things I like to do and i feel like I'm doing more in my day. If I didn't hop I would never go to Animal Kingdom, they close like at 5, seems like a wasted day. With a hopper I'll leave AK like at 3 or 4 pm head to Magic Kingdom do several attractions and watch Spectromagic and Wishes.

As far as travel time itm rarely takes longer than a half hour from park to park, sometimes it can be like 15 minutes ie. EPCOT to MGM thru the International Gateway.

I understand people who don't visit often or families with kids and strollers, they might enjoy being at one park all day.Park hopping could be a hassle to them going from park to park and being in one park you feel like you can see more of the park and it's attractions. Different things work for different people. I just went to Disney last week and spent the entire day at EPCOT to see the Food and Wine Festival and Kansas in the concert stage plus get some rides on Soarin, so new and different things kept me at EPCOT all day!!

The Park Hopper option also comes in very handy when you travel with a 4 year old that NEEDS to ride IASWAA every single day.... you can easily make that stop! :)

I would hold off! If you get there and find you do NEED it, then go add it. But if you plan well, there is no reason for it in my opinion on a longer trip.

YES, you can add the Hopper feature to the pass while you are there, even with just one day left on the ticket!

Thanks for your replies. If I do decide to add the hopper during my stay, where do I add it? We are staying at the CSR. Do they charge me for only the days I have left or for the whole week if I have a 7 day pass with 3 days left on it?

You can add it at the park or at your resort. They will add the hopper to the entire number of days that you have purchased regardless of how many days have been used already.

The Hopper cost is $35 regardless of length. Even a one day pass is $35.

I'm totally on the other side than you are on this one. I would agree somewhat if a person is not going to go to the early entry park. When we stayed offsite I don't think we hopped much since we'd go to a park that wasn't having the early entry. But staying onsite, going to the early entry park would mean that we'd be stuck at that park even if it got busy. And we enjoyed ending our day at another park that has longer evening hours. Depending on the trip, though, we drove from one park to another, which didn't take too much time.

We found that by going to a park that had had EMH the day before, we basically had the place to ourselves. There was no need to hop because of crowds. They were at the EMH park for that day. YMMV.

I love parkhopping, but going to one park each day is managable. My immediate family has annual passes, but my cousins did not, so they opted to purchase tickets without the hopper option. It saved them $245 (there were 7 of them). Therefore my family was stuck not parkhopping, but it worked ok even though we went right after July 4. Just plan accordingly and make use of Fast Passes for popular rides.

You can add hopping after you get the pass or even few days after you start using the pass but teh "rule" is that other things you may want to add, such as more days or non-expiration, have to be added at the same time.

If you added a few things one day and wanted to add more things another day (also before the pass expires or is exhausted), a different formula that costs you more money (dollar value trade-up) must be used the second time.
