I'm not sure if this is the best forum to post this, if not I apologize.
We'll be taking our second trip to Disney World early September. The last time we were there, I'd wanted to make it to Sanibel (Sanibal?) Island, but I ended up with food poisoning and spent those days in my hotel room (and the hospital-it was pretty bad) rather than playing.
This time, I'd REALLY like to make it to the shore (I'm a PacNW beach rat, and love the wild beaches) and even though Sanibel originally seemed like the best bet, it's also pretty far and sounds very touristy (I prefer 'naturey'). So I was poking around online and Canaveral National park sounds like it has potential. But I would love any feedback from fellow Florida-visitors on this spot and any others they think might be awesome.
Sidenote: At some point during our trip, we'll probably take the big drive up to Georgia to see relatives for a day (I'm pushing for just taking a plane to see them-a few hours vs. many, many hours, but money is an issue so we'll see). So places in that direction might be good to think about.
