Well, my girlfriend and i are talking about places we'd love to get married, and the first place i thought of was WDW, somewhere around MK.

So, i need to know, where are the best places for receptions and such? i'm guessing maybe the contemp or polynesian?

Anyways, give me some ideas, i'm very open to them right now :)

You'll likely have much better luck on the "Weddings/Honeymoons" board.

But - I would recommend looking into "the point" at the Polynesian Resort, or maybe the gazebo area over at the Yacht Club. I've seen some pretty ceremonies up on one of the higher balconies at the Wilderness Lodge, too - overlooking the courtyard.

Best of Luck!!

Definitely join the wedding board! Those ladies are amazing...they always have answers to my questions.

i can not recommend enough the atlantic dance hall for a reception. we had such a wonderful time there and it is at such a great location. you have come to the right place for all of your disney wedding info.

Here is some basic info from another thread:

Intimate weddings are limited to 8 people total (but can be increased to a maximum of 12 people for an additional charge). They are a package type of arrangement, meaning that while you will have a little flexibility (like choosing what flowers you like and what cake flavors you prefer), your choices are limited in exchange for a much lower cost. Intimate weddings include a ceremony followed by a cake and champagne reception. There is no reception with an Intimate. You are free to arrange dinner plans for your group after your renewal, but this would be at a regular restaurant, not a reception location. Intimate weddings include hotel accommodations and tickets, but you can purchase what is known as an “Intimate add-on” if you do not need accommodations and/or tickets. Since there are so many ways to get discounted rooms, this can be a less expensive option (since Intimate packages are booked at rack rates). I’m not 100% sure about the pricing, but I believe that Intimate add-ons at outdoor locations are $2300+ and Intimate add-ons at the Wedding Pavilion are $3100+.

Custom weddings have no limit on the number of guests. Just as the name implies, they are completely customizable events from menu choice to flower choice, etc. The only limit would be your own budget. Custom weddings include a ceremony followed by a pre-reception, then a reception with a meal. There are minimum expenditures for Custom events—there is a $10,000 overall minimum (plus tax and gratuity) for weekday events, a $15,000 overall minimum for events on Friday or Sunday, and a $20,000 overall minimum for events on Saturdays. Anything you purchase from Disney and use on your wedding day counts toward this minimum (food, beverage, floral, entertainment, transportation, cosmetology, photography, videography, etc.). Additionally, there are minimum expenditures on food/beverage. These vary by time of day and by venue choice, but range between $75-$125 per head minimum (plus tax/gratuity). This food minimum does count towards your overall minimum. Custom brides/grooms get one night of free accommodations at the Disney resort of your choice, but the rest of the accommodations expense is up to you. Tickets are not included, but can be purchased at special wedding discounted rates. Additionally, you must meet a minimum number of room bookings. This number varies with your guest list size, but it’s generally not difficult to meet.

Hope that helps a little bit! Can you give us an idea of the size of your guest list? That will help us recommend good locations for the size of your group.

By choosing a WDW wedding, you have a variety of choices.

Have you decide where in WDW would you like to get married?

The most popular place is Disney's Wedding Pavilion. This is on the grounds of the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. If you use this venue for your ceremony, the most convenient place to have your reception would be at the Grand Floridian itself, (although you do not have to have it there, and a lot of people don't)

The Yacht Club Gazebo at the Yacht Club resort is another ceremony Venue.
There are ballrooms inside the Yacht and Beach Club that can be use for receptions, and I think Ariels, (inside the Yacht Club) may still do receptions.

Sea Breeze Pont, is that lovely covered deck that overlooks the lake on the boardwalk. You could have the reception at one of the ballrooms in the Boardwalk Inn. Or you could choose a place in Epcot since you are so close. A lot of people use The Living Seas.

Another Location is Sunset Point (this is used for intimate weddings)
It is a piece of land behind the Polynesian resort that overlooks cinderella's castle. A short cake cutting reception is held afterwards at the resort.

The wildreness Lodge is also another location intimates are held. They have a terrace called sunrise terrace that overlooks the lake and scenery. very lovely.

There are various places in Epcot, and MGM to have your reception as well.

Of course there is alway having at the Magic Kindom itself, but be prepared to spend lots of $. I think the minimum is $35K just to hold the reception there. $50K for the ceremony and reception. Now these were 2004 prices, so I am sure they went up!

My suggestion to you would be to have your ceremony at the wedding Pavilion and then have your reception at the California Grill. The California Grill is a restraunt in the Contemporary Resort. This actually overlooks the MK. It has great veiw! you can't get any closer to the MK then that.

Okay, I hope that was a help and didn't just confuse you more.
Let us know what your plans develop into! Good Lick!
