Just entered into a contract for 150 pts on resale. Paid a bunch of money for them so I hope the right of first refusal won't be a factor. My question is - With my type of work it is difficult to make reservations 11 months or even 7 months in advance, so how hard is it to make reservations 2-3 months out? The good news is I usually don't travel the peak times and I am a little flexible. I would be looking for a studio (small family) on any of the DVC properties at WDW, hopefully, at the Boardwalk, Beach Club or Wilderness lodge.

Welcome to the DVC Forum - and good luck on getting by ROFR!

You never know about availability until you call. Many posters report success getting reservations on short notice, especially if they are flexible with respect to the resort, dates & room size.

Keep in mind that peak season for the parks isn't necessarily peak season for staying in a DVC resort. For example, early December is definitely not peak season for the parks, but it is one of the more difficult times to book WDW DVC accomodations if you can't do it at the 11 or 7 month window.

The easiest months to book WDW DVC resorts are January, February (1st half), May, and September. The summer months are relatively easy as well. There is usually more availability at OKW than at BWV, BCV or VWL for short notice reservations because it is the largest on site DVC resort (for now, anyway).

Best wishes -

Peak times for WDW aren't necessarily the same as peak times for DVC. If you would be happy to stay at any of the resorts, you could be OK, but from the way the posts have been, I wonder what you would have found 2-3 months ago for the month of October. We wanted a studio for the weekend (and Sunday) of Oct. 1st, we made the ressies on Aug. 15th, and the only studios available were at OKW. We're thrilled to be there, but would you feel the same?

Then there are cancellations. Someone was able to change from an OKW studio to one at the Beach Club just this or last week for this time frame, so if you stay on top of your ressie, you may even get what you really want.

Would you be as happy owning DVC if making ressies were so iffy?

Pixie dust as you think about it, and decide!

Happy to say first week in February and the tail end of the summer is probably my best times to go. Thank you for your info.

Sounds like you are pretty flexible, so I would not worry too much about ressies. You can really take a 1 bedroom if you have to (more points, but some say that makes them easier to get.) We always travel when school is out and have to have a 2 bedroom, you should be okay. Good luck with ROFR!
