I called and cancelled our current reservations at AKL club/concierge and booked Garden View at the Poly. While the AKL was a great choice too, we felt that our hearts:lovestruc were just too much with the POLY. We requested TOKELUA section and 3rd floor 1st choice and 2nd choice, patio. We will be celebrating our wedding anniversary and it is our 1st FAMILY WDW trip with our children and staying onsite:cool1: :cool1: We haven't been to Disney since 1993 and never stayed onsite, and that was with just hubby and I, but our kids have never been to Disney, so to experience this all together as a FAMILY is just AWESOMEpixiedust: Most of our time will be spent at the MK and having monorail access and being close to different shopping and eating choices, we felt it was the better for our family:yay: I'm truly floating on :cloud9: I just never felt that same feeling after booking the AKL but after booking the Poly I feel like it is the resort I've dreamt of and now that dream is a reality:yay: Now, all that is left is booking some ADR's and the first on our list is somewhere for dinner upon arrival and breakfast the following morning before going to the MK for the 1st time:woohoo: We also decided to drive:drive: not fly. We want to be comfortable, sitting together, talking, getting out if we need to so we can stretch our legs or make bathroom breaks in a "REAL" bathroom, LOL:lmao: DD can take all her stuffed animals she wants to take and they can watch DVD's, have their snacks and enjoy some good family time on a roadtrip. We have always loved our drives and I figure by the time we drive 2 hrs. to the airport and piddle with checkin and who knows if you get delayed, etc., that we will be just fine :) :) Our last experience with flying was last year and hubby and I both swore we would not fly again unless absolutely necessary. It isn't for this trip so driving we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: Oh and another plus for driving is loading that car up with LOTS OF SOUVENIRS instead of paying to ship them. Well, just wanted to share the GREAT NEWS:dance3: Thanks for everything DISBOARDERS:woohoo: Now, I'll be checking out all the GREAT Poly pics/threads as we countdown for our summer 08 trip to WDW:cool1: :hourglass

It sounds like it will be an amazing trip. Your kids will love the Poly and it will be great to be so close to the MK! We'll be there in August for a honeymoon and I just can't wait -- 5+ months is going too slow!

I am so happy for you. Now you seem truely excited. I cant wait to see what you do for ADRs and planning. We loved the restaurants in the Poly (Ohana and Kona) and the shops in the lobby were very nice too!!! I think we might be staying here too;)

Congrats! I think you made a great choice! And while I love the AKL-my very 1st trip to WDW(and what got me hooked!) was the AKL; but after staying @ the POLY- that's where I always long to stay. Have fun planning!

Congrats!!! We are staying at the Poly MK view in November. We can't wait since it will be our first time as a family and mine and my DH first time staying inside DW. Good luck with the ADR, I hope you are able to get the meals you want. Have a fun and safe trip!!!

:tinker:

Yay! You made a GREAT decision! You and your family will not be disappointed.

Hope to see you on the restaurants board, I'm curious about your ADRs. Just 2 words on that here: 'Ohana! Kona! YUM (OK, so it was 3 words).

Thanks so much all:grouphug: We are just soooooooooooo happy!!!! I can't stop thinking/dreaming:cloud9: about it!! I am in the process of picking some ADR's out so.....................hopefully I'll have it all scheduled too here soon. I am trying to pick which breakfast to have on our very 1st morning before we head to MAGIC KINGDOM. Since we are going to be at the Poly, I thought of the character breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. My dd also wants to do the Chef Mickey's at the CR too so not sure which to go with on first day but I'll definitely have to do both, just not sure which order. Thanks again all!

DISNEY AND POLY FOR OUR FAMILY..............LIFE IS GOOD:cloud9:

Hooray! Except I will miss all your threads!! lol

So where are you driving from? What are your dates? We will be visiting Poly as we will be celebrating our 5 yr anniv in June (our wedding spot)...it is a great spot to take photos! Take a walk over to Sunset Point, you will be glad you did! :)
Hope your stay is Magical!

Have a great trip you and your family will love staing on propery.I have not stayed at Poly but once you stay on property it's hard to go back.
We also drive to the world (NJ) DH does not care to fly. :tinker:
We start our vacation with dinner at Chef Mickey's:mickeyjum it's a nice way to get in the Disney spirit.
Have fun:rotfl: pixiedust: :

Congrats!! The poly is amazing! I've stayed there many times and I'm completely in love with it:cloud9:

Like bigmama101, we also enjoy Chef Mickey's our first dinner, it REALLY gets us in the mood for WDW. Don't know what time you're arriving on your travel day, but it's especially great if you don't have time to go into a park, to ride the monorail over to CR for dinner.

I've never had breakfast at 'Ohana (we're not big on sit-down breakfasts, we like to use those valuable morning hours for park touring), but we have done the Princess breakfast at CRT twice (either earliest or latest possible seating). Those were both unbelievable experiences and I highly recommend trying it at least once, it would be a great way to start your first day in MK (did I mention eat early!...or late - if you eat late, you can tour the most popular attractions BEFORE breakfast.)

Your vacation will be so awesome!

Congrats! I love the POLY! We are staying at the CSR this Dec due to needing larger suite for everyone who is coming, but I will MISS the poly!

You will LOVE the Poly! We stayed there last March and now we don't want to stay anywhere else. We also requested Tokelau, 3rd floor, and had our request honored. It was a good location. Being on the monorail line is a great perk too. Enjoy!:)

Hope you enjoy the Poly.
I just stayed there this past Jan for the Marathon weekend. I hadn't stayed there for about 30 years and I enjoyed it tremendously. We were upgraded to the conciege building and that was awesome, almost didn't need to eat anywhere else, so that saved us some money.

Have a grea time!

Tracy:yay:
