Going back to WDW for the 7th time. We are going to try the Hoop-dee-doo musical review for the first time.
Looking for anyone who has gone recently for a low down on the show and food.
Also heard that you could take a stagecoach ride to see the lagoon parade after the show. Is this true? Is it worth it?
Can't wait till March 31st!!!!! Mickey, here we come!

We've been twice and loved it! I can't believe you've gone this long without going!

Ok its a vodville type show, with 3 men and 3 women singing and dancing, with lots of comedy tossed in. they interact with the audience, too. the fodd is served thorugh the show, family style. there's salad that's alot like what you get at olive garden. its mostly BBQ type fare with chicken, baked beans, corn and stuff like that. its got what i think is the best dessert in all of WDW. its a strawberry shortcake kind of thing.

you get your picture taken before hand and they have them ready to purchase by the end of the show.

i dont know about the stagecoach ride, sorry. BUT HAVE A GREAT TIME!

and ribs are served. i do not eat them, but my husband and sons say they are great! it is a lot of fun!

Haven't heard of a stagecoach ride but you can go for a carriage ride through Fort Wilderness. We had reservations to do that in December but it was so cold we ended up cancelling.

The show is very corny and very well done. The food is filling and fine although not even close to the best WDW offers.

You don't have to have a picture taken. We never do because we know we won't purchase it anyway.

They have nightly hayrides and the later one will often stop by the beach for the parade and MK fireworks. It is a lot of (smelly) fun! No hay, though, just a large wagon with bench seats.

We went for the first time in Feb. and had such a great time we are booking for our Oct. trip too. It will be a great something new to add to your Disney trip this time!

Can you take the carrage ride/hay ride even if you are not staying at that resort? We are at the POFQ. Do you always get to see the fireworks/parade if you go at the right time?

You can certainly do a carriage ride if you're not staying there. It's not free though. We've not done the hayride even when we stayed there because I'm so allergic to hay...didn't know there wasn't any! I learn something every day from these boards.

Just saw the show for the first time in 20 years a week or so ago, and it was a lot of fun. The show is very corny but fun and entertaining. I found the food to be better than expected and the fried chicken was excellent. The ribs were good but the corn and baked beans were average, at best. The dessert of strawberry shortcake was very good as well.

The show was fast paced and the entire time went by very fast. My kids are 16 and 11 and they both liked the food and the show. I'm really glad we went and I'm sure we won't wait 20 years to return again.

My husband and I have seen the show 5 times. He loves it. It is very corny.

The first time we went was on our Honeymoon. We booked late and were seated upstairs.

The next time we booked very early and had the table that was center front to the stage.

The next time we took our newly adopted 12 year old and sat very close to the front.

The last time was in 2002 when we took the kids and grandkids and had the time of our life watching the 4 year old laugh out loud, cheer and clap, throughout the show!! Also booked very early and had a table in the front row, but to the side.

We are going again in April. Booked about 6 months ago, hope to have a great table.

Which is better? I have ressies for Hoop de Doo, but am wondering if our DS who is 4 would like the BBQ better because of the characters and dancing. He loves to dance and sing! Please let me know!!!

We did the HDD last July. The strawberry shortcake dessert was TERRIBLE. A square of somewhat dry white cake with maybe canned strawberries and a foul strawberry syrup and a 1 cubic inch squirt of artificial whipped cream. Nasty. Somewhat on the level of elementary school cafeteria food.

The show was wonderful, lots of fun, but the food was nothing to write home about. Average salad, ribs and chicken were alright (not the best I have eaten) and Mexi-corn that my son hated. He wound up eating rolls for dinner.

If I could do the show without suffering through the meal, I'd do it in a minute.

Sangria was free. Maybe that's what made some folks think the food was pretty good.

Our friends and family we travel with to Disney always make the trip to HDDR. It's so campy we love it. There is a part of the show that they will pull people up on stage for a bit in one of the numbers. Well one year I was picked--what fun!!! They give you a polaroid picture of yourself in "costume" and a certificate. They will also have people stand for birthdays and dance for anniversaries. In the beginning of the show the cast will even come around to tables and announce where you are from as part of the song (not every table gets picked for this). I'll agree that the food isn't always up to par compared to some of the other resort restaurants but we go for the fun! We still sing the parodee from My Darling Clementine! Great time!
