If I take the boat from VWL to Fort Wilderness, will I be able to walk to Pioneer Hall? Or will I still have to catch a bus?

You will be able to walk to pioneer hall. It is less than a 5 minute walk.

It's a very very short walk from the boat dock to Pioneer Hall, about the equivalent of one-to-two city blocks.

OMG! This reminds me of the time my sister's family went to HDDR for my sister's birthday. We were staying at the VWL and had the rooms all the way at the end of the long hallway. She decided to try and run with her kids back to the room and fell. She didn't only fall, but skipped multiple times on the rug on her knees. My BIL cannot to this day talk about it without laughing until he cries.

When they were at the pool the next day a security guard asked her what had happened to her knees and when my BIL in told him, the guard started laughing and told her he was going to pull the security tape so he could watch it!

Since you are at the villas, your are closer to the bus stop. If you wanted to, there is a bus from WL to FW, the stop for HDDR is the stop right after WL and the walk from the bus stop in FW to HDDR is the same(maybe a tad shorter) than the walk from the boat to HDDR.

The boat is a much prettier trip, the bus is faster especially on the trip home.
Before 3pm the boat runs clockwise(WL>CR>FW>WL) after 3pm they reverse and go counterclockwise(WL>FW>CR>WL).

What's it like trying leave after the show?

We are staying at ASMu. What's the best way to get back? To get there before the show we plan to take the bus to MK and then the boat to FW.
