Hi!! I heard that your seats all depend on when you called for tix. We are a party of seven and the cm said we got the last table. Is that bad? Are we way in the back? We have been really looking forward to this, but if my kids can't see they won't be happy and it will be a long 2 hours. We are on the dining plan and this is 2 TS. This is the only way we will ever be able to afford this, should we keep it or cancel?

I believe they fill the bottom and then the top - so if it's the last table, you'd be in the balcony, I believe. I have only been seated downstairs and didn't think there was a bad table there; but I haven't sat upstairs.

Could you switch your days around and see if a better table if available on another night of your trip?

We just ate there on Friday and we had only booked our reservation a month and a half ago and we sat on the botom in like the second row of tables. Maybe we just got lucky and they screwed up the ressies but they definetly didn't seat by order of reservations.

Sitting upstairs isn't bad, but if you are on the side, like we were, you face the wall to eat, then have to turn around to see the show.

It's a little strange, but I guess they don't want the tables right along the railing - too easy to drop food on people below! :rotfl2:

The "mystery" of HDDR is still that--a mystery. I have been there several times and each time, the floor plan is a little different. I think that once they get each show booked, they look at what parties they have and they arrange the tables based on who is coming. I think a lot more goes into where you sit then when you called for tickets, or when you picked them up, etc.

I am still so confused. We have never done Hoop De Doo and without free dining will most likely never do again. Even if we are on the balcony, will we still have a good time? Is it worth 2TS? Thanks for the help. :thumbsup2

We did HDDR last August during the free dining and booked it a week before the show. We sat in the balcony and felt that we saw the show just great in fact my DD8 wants to make sure we get the balcony next time (go figure?). We loved it and had a wonderful time. It was a first time for us also and it was the best meal/activity that we did on that trip. We are still talking about it and laughing. The only negative thing that I felt about the balcony was that the people on the floor could continue to eat while the show was going on and I wasn't able to since we had to swivel our chairs around to see the stage so I felt like we didn't get our money's worth of food and felt a little rushed, but that was a small price to pay for a great night of entertainment. You very well could have gotten the last table for "7 people" and be right on the floor. I wouldn't sweat it and go and have a blast! I know that HDDR is one of the things that we are looking forward to the most on our next trip. :thumbsup2

Maybe it wasn't exactly the last table, just the last table for the size of your party.

Sorry I was not clear - the view of the show from the balcony was awesome! It was just a little awkward eating while facing away from the stage. The side tables are long thin tables, so you sit in a single row with your party. If you have a large party, it's a little hard to talk to each other.

I think it would be worth spending 2 of your TS credits. We paid OOP when we went. The food is also really good, even if it is served in buckets! :rotfl:

I justed booked HDD for October and the CM could see table sizes (i.e. the 3 of us got a table of 4), but not particular table arrangments or seating. She said that this is determined by others. I didn't ask whether the "others" give the best seats to the first reservations or if it is simply up to an assignor and random.

In 2004, we went to HDDR. I had booked it about 8 months previously. However, Hurricane Charley arrived the same day we did, and shut down the FW area for several days, so we lost our reservation. But, we were able to get a different night. We did end up in the balcony on the side. It really wasn't all that bad. We had a great view of the show, and the performers did come upstairs...not all of them, just one or two.

So, my dd, then 11, loved it so much she asked if she could come back and celebrate her 13th bday there. And that's what we're going to do. We will have 2 moms and our 2 dd's, mine turns 13 the day we have for HDDR, the other turns 13 two days later. I booked it in 2004, for this coming Oct.

From what I can gather, the seating 'may' depend on 1. when you booked 2. when you pick up your tickets 3. when you show up at the podium.
I don't believe it's the podium checkin, since we were the first people there. And we did pick up our tickets the same day as the show, and we did make the reservation about 2 days before. So, it may be a combination of those two things.

I wouldn't worry about where you'll sit! Enjoy! It's a great show! I've been 2x and have sat upstairs and downstairs. Both are great! Different but great!

We LOVED our balcony seat last year. It was table 201 - on the very end of the balcony, but looked right over the piano and stage. Awesome view. Only thing better would have been one of the first few tables on the floor. We are going again this Saturday and I would love the same table. We didn't mind having to turn around at all, but it was weird. I'd rather sit in the balcony than the back of the floor level.

BTW - last year they told me I got the "last table" and this year they told me the same. Of course, that is probably the last one for our size - 3 people. No way are we going to be seated at one of the large tables in the front on the floor - those are all for larger parties. I think all of the balcony tables were little.

I've seen them put smaller tables up front. I have been at a table for 3 before, fairly close to the stage.

I've never sat in the balcony but I've sat in the very front and center table to stage and in the very back of the room in the corner and both times had an awesome time. I think it helps too that the actors come off the stage and go everyone. I think you'll have a great time regardless!

Also, it does really help that the place, Pioneer Hall, is really not that big. I think it's real easy to feel part of the show because the stage kind of comes right out there and the actors are in running around the place.

Will they split a party of 11 up at HDDR??? They said they would at CRT but they didn't. They sat us along the wall where it's half bench and half regular chairs.

I don't think so. At the HDDR there are a lot of long, rectangular tables that go along the sides of Pioneer Hall (both upstairs and downstairs).

We have been to the HDDR several times and believe it is worth the 2 TS credits. We will be going again on May 17th. We have been in the balcony and on the floor and both are great. As a party of 3, we have been seated at the front. We booked last September and tried to get the 7:15 show and they were already filled so we will be going to the 5:00 show. I can't wait!

We booked 9 months in advance and were seated right at the stage! Our kids laughed harder than they did the whole trip!!!!! It's really clean family fun!!!!!! Does anyone know if they change the show from year to year or is it always the same?
