Since we are arriving late, we will not use our dinner credit that first night. We are considering using the 2 credits on California Grill or the HoopDeeDoo Revue. Our girls are 11 and 8. Thoughts? TIA! :)

Our daughters have "demanded" that we go back to Hoop Dee Doo next year after we went this past August with Dh's family. They are 7 (she's also autistic) and 5.... and next year we'll have a 1 yr old.
We had kids that ranged from 18-5 (18,13, 10, 9,8,7,7,5) in our group this year and they all loved it!!!

We'll definitely be going next yr....

Hope this helps somewhat....:goodvibes

My DD was 9 when we first saw this show and she loved it. The jokes are funny, corny and kids at this age eat it up. She thought it was hilarious when Grandpa got picked to be in the play. I would recommend the Hoop Dee Doo Revue.

I think kids that age would enjoy Hoop de Doo much more than Cali Grill. DS loves the show! Cali Grill would be better if you had some adult alone time to eat out IMO.

Hoop Dee Doo! Cali Grill would be great for adults, but with kids, Do the Revue! :thumbsup2

Comparing the two is like comparing apples to spaghetti. They're both edible, but the experience is completely different.

If it's just two adults looking for a quiet and enjoyable dinner, then I'd say probably California Grill is your best bet. But, if it's a family wanting to have a fun and enjoyable experience, then probably HDDR is your best bet.

It really depends upon what you're looking for.

My DD10 and DD8 insisted that we do the Hoop Dee Doo Revue for the 3rd straight year when we go back this week. They absolutely love it! The food is good and the show is just awesome! You will not regret it and I am positive that the HDDR will be one of the highlights of your family's trip.:thumbsup2

If the food dosen't really matter, HDDR might be best for you.
Otherwise----

Gee, I kinda like the food at HDDR!

While we are true fans of the CG, it was never a must-do when my kids were pre-teens.
To kick-off your vacation, the HDDR would certainly be more of a total family "experience"; it never disappoints :thumbsup2

24 years of HDDR and I still like it. Never could warm up to California Grill.

We went to the hoop Dee doo review for the first time last year. We went the day we arrived and loved it. Everyone had fun including our baby and 3 year old. It was so much fun. We loved the food and sangria. It is definitely a must do every year for our family!
:thumbsup2

Def. Hoop de doo!! But they are two very different dining experience....so depends on what you are looking for!!

TY so much everyone! :)

I acknowledge that the 2 experiences would be different, but I guess I was looking for reassurance that HDDR wouldn't be too young for the kids. I appreciate everyone taking the time to share your thoughts! You def helped reassure me that they'll enjoy it.

We went again last year as a group of 6 adults. We are in our 30's - 60's and we all loved it. I don't think it can be "too young". The food is good and the show is fabulous.
Have a Great time

We've been to HoopDeeDoo Revue twice when our daughters were around the same ages as yours. They loved it and still talk about it 5 years later. They announced birthdays and my daughter got the spotlight for a second, sure made her day.

For your age group especially, I would go with the Hoop Dee Doo. That is a great experience. We always have lots and lots of fun! The food is AMAZING - fried chicken, BBQ ribs, mashed potatoes, strawberry shortcake, etc. The show is very entertaining and funny and you will have a very enjoyable time! It's also fun to check out Fort Wilderness. If your show lets out at the right time, you can catch a carriage ride on one of the the horses too! That's lots of fun.

I think that you're probably making the right choice for your family in the Hoop Dee Doo Revue, but...

There is something to be said for watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks show and Electrical Water Pageant from the comfort of a top-floor California Grill view.

Just something to think about...

We just went to HDDR two weeks ago....kids are 5 & 8. My 8yo dd was laughing SO hard through the entire thing that the table next to us was laughing at US! It's corny and sarcastic and right up the right alley for kids. The food was good too!!
