We are heading back to DW next year and plan to book HDDR (we are bringing some family along who haven't been there for 30 years).

My wife and I follow a Ketogenic diet (very low carb). Has anyone requested low carb dining modification here in the last year or two? Without modifying this wouldn't be a great place for Keto due to the breaded chicken, sweet ribs, bread, etc.

We probably wouldnt choose HDDR if not for the family that really wants to go...

I'm breaking keto for disney in 58 days.I was on a 7 day cruise on the Harmony of the seas I broke for a week of 8 huge meals of carbs and crabs a day. I'm 6 ft 5 I can eat. I gained 8 lbs. I went back on keto Wednesday and have lost all the weight plus 2 lbs. I think a few small cheats wont hurt two much. Get the chicken just don't pig out

That's not what the OP was asking. I'm sure they have considered cheating and have decided not to.

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to this as we have never done HDDR. I have Celiac and am gluten free, but my hubby and I also follow a ketogenic diet. We do well on it and feel better when we do. I know if I were to cheat and eat fried chicken (even gluten free), I would feel like crap that night and the next day. I know Disney has always taken care of me, but I don't have personal experience with HDDR.

Unfortunately, a few cheats could hurt. I am insulin resistant (type 2 diabetic). I need to eat in a way that doesn't initiate a significant insulin response.

I don't any personal experience with HDDR and asking for a special diet meal. You do have the option of not eating the skin on the fried chicken and eating the salad. That would keep you pretty low on the carb side. Also, the majority of the ranch salad dressing at Disney restaurants is the fat free ranch - which is not keto friendly. So you also need to watch out for that.

I am in the same boat. Heading down in November for a friends wedding. Carbs everywhere!

I plan on sticking to the chicken without skin, I will see what the ribs look like, if I can scrape any sauce off I will try. And Salad.

Ohana is the other fun one. Inside of the dumplings, and my weight in shrimp is my plan

Didn't feel it was necessary as my original question remains the same either way (Has anyone requested low carb dining modification here in the last year or two?)

I definitely know where you’re coming from. The reason shouldn’t matter. “It’s okay to cheat,” or “Calories don’t count at Disney World” are not answers to this type of question.

ETA: I unfortunately can’t give advice since I’ve never eaten there, but I do know that Disney is very helpful with dietary issues. I believe you can email ahead with questions. Hopefully someone with more experience knows for sure.

When I declined the ribs, I was offered salmon. The meal is a carb lover's paradise and I know the salad dressing is not keto. If you need a diabetic allowance, that is what I would ask for. While I understand how eating non-keto foods can be truly troublesome, it isn't an allergy or medical "need" to some.

They will serve you ribs with no sauce. I hate BBQ sauce and my husband asked if they had some without it and the waitress brought me out my own pail.

Yes!! My son has multiple food allergies that have us ordering paleo and Keto style meals. HDDR was great! Ribs without sauce- only spices, and salad without dressing - we used oil & vin. Plus some veggie sides and strawberries for desert. I can’t remember if he had chicken. but he and I shared food, and we both left feeling very full!!

One person in our party got the grilled salmon and vegetables.
I applaud your efforts to stay with your keto program. I have inquired and indeed, salmon and veggies are available. Strawberries (without the shortcake) are among the lowest glycemic fruits but I have inquired about the availability of a sugar free dessert. Unfortunately sugar free may not translate to low carb but that may be a concession I may make (gastric bypass 10 yrs ago and maintaining a 150+ lb loss) . Bleu cheese dressing for your salad??
