Trying to decide which would be a better show for my 8 year old. She is developmentally delayed so she would not get the corny jokes, but she loves shows and music/dancing/tricks/etc. Her very favorite thing at wdw is FOTLK.

Thanks!

And I suppose one answer could be both. We are going on a ten day trip so will have time for both.

If you can manage both, do both. I know these aren't exactly cheap experiences, but they are both worth the cost. While she may not get all of the jokes with HDDR, there is quite a bit of singing and dancing that she will enjoy. I have seen HDDR quite a few times and have sat all over the theater (I prefer the balcony seating to sitting up close to the stage, but that's just me). La Nouba, is just amazing. One of the better Cirque shows around. We have seen it from about the 5th row from the stage and have seen it from much farther back. These are 2 very different experiences. You could book the bottom tiers of both performances, which are still enjoyable seats, to save a few extra $$ and not be disappointed with either. However, if you choose to go with just one of the experiences, I would suggest La Nouba and dinner in DTD.

yes La Nouba is my choice, even little ones as young as 3 are amazed sat beside a family with children that age and not a peep out of them the whole show! They sat there and watched and seemed to be having a great time seeing it all. well worth every penny, a must see for sure we have also done hddr and while we liked it it is nothing compared to Cirque in my opinion

I agree, two very different experiences, but for your daughter, as you described, then La Nouba. A lot of visual sensory going on all the time.

If you can do both, great! Hoop-de-doo, as you know, is a dinner show, so you'd be dealing with your meal and, if I recall correctly, you eat during the show. As you noted, lots of fun, corny humor, with song and dance, but not as much visual stimulation as La Nouba.

Have a great time!

I have not been to HDDR but did love La Nouba and felt it was worth every penny! PoohJen is right so much visual sensory going on, really fun and bright. We sat in the first row of the second tier and the seats were great. Our mistake was we went to the early show (I think it was like 6pm or something) and didn't eat before. We just gave our kids a snack, they were great during the show but it was a "hangry" meltdown afterward! We had a reservation at Wolfgang Puck Cafe and when we were seated I told the waitress "we are having a food meltdown, please bring a breadbasket and water immediately" :scared1:. She didn't blink an eye, brought it out, gave us a few min and returned to introduce herself and start all over .... we laugh about it now but at the time it wasn't funny. Poor parental planning.

Pro HDDR here: as others have said, they have never left HDDR hungry. La Nob requires at least a meal before or after! Plus, there is at least a quiet area outside the show, and there is usually a beautiful draft horse (for a carriage ride) outside that she may be able to pet. If she like shows, I think it is one of the best meal shows in the area. The jokes/etc are perfect for everyone and it who knows, she might "get them". My DS when there when he was 1 yr, 2yr and 3yrs old, and he enjoyed every bit. And he definitely didn't "get" the jokes. The food and music was enough for him! :)

I do enjoy Hoop Dee Doo, but I vote for La Nouba. I would lOVE to see that again. My daughters both loved it. I think my youngest was about 9ish and very much into gymnastics. She leaned over mid-show to thank me and tell me it was the best thing she has ever seen. If she would enjoy acrobatics more go with La Nouba. But, don't think you will go wrong with either choice.
