We will be going on a trip to WDW in June at the time of my newborn's first birthday. Is the Hoop-Dee-Doo a good place to celebrate or will it be too overwhelming?

No! Stay away and wait until about 4 or 5 years old. Also keep in mind it is a little difficult to get to the Hoop Dee Do. It requires parking your car and taking a bus into the resort or taking two buses. At any rate I would not consider it for a one year old. Also the first show is about 5:30 and a one year old may be a little tired especially after a day at MK.

I agree. I don't think a 1 y/o would really enjoy the show. We took DS at 6 and he trully loved it. Also the Hall is kind of cramped and I assume the baby will be in a stroller, it would be a hassle for you and the servers.

I agree, also. It's a great show and dinner, but on our first time we went with friends who had a two-year-old and not only didn't the tot enjoy herself, but neither did anyone else nearby. Wait until he or she is old enough to understand what's going on and you'll all have a better time.

Hoop-dee-Doo would be too stimulating/overwhelming for a baby. Alternative options might include a character meal during a slow time of day (early dinner, for example) - if your little one is not afraid of being that close to the characters. Or just a nice meal at any kid-friendly WDW restaurant with a special cake.
