How are the seats in Cat. 3? Will we be able to see the show good? I booked under cat 1 and now am on the dining plan and am thinking of switching to cat 3 that's available under the dining plan. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

We had category 1 seating because I was afraid of bad seating. Honestly, I would not hesitate to do category 3 if we went again. I didn't see a bad seat in the house because the cast members do a great job circulating through the crowd for the entire show. They even spent alot of time entertaining in the balcony.

Whatever you decide, have a great time!

we have been many times and up until our last trip we have sat in Cat 1. We were paying OOP and decided we would try Cat 3. We were not disappointed in the least. The cast members came up and danced with us and we didn't miss a thing. Wonderful experience!

Thank you both so much. We have done Cat. 1 last trip and I'd much rather use the dining plan and go with Cat. 3. I am on hold right now and changing it. We love the show.

Thanks.

Yay :cool1: did it made the change to Cat 3 for the same day and time using the dining plan. Even the CM told me Cat 3 is great. Now I won't have to worry about having extra TS credits left over and I can get a credit back for CAT. 1. Thanks again.

love cat 3 and actually would take it over the other 2 if paying cash, though wd did use ddp for it in 2009. See pix in my review below. My then 18 mo old couldn't get enough. He is now 4 and we are going back in a month. Enjoy !!!

We have been all over the place in the Dining Hall and never had a bad seat. We love Hoop, it is our first night tradition. Can't wait until December!

We much prefer sitting up in the balcony opposed to sitting on the floor. The only bad thing about Cat. 3 over Cat 1. is that when the show doesn't sell out they may move you from Cat. 3 seating in the balcony to Cat. 2 seating on the floor in the back. I know they are just trying to fill in seats but it's one of those upgrades that's really a downgrade, IMO. We always do the late show, so I am sure it is more likely to happen then than at one of the earlier shows.

Our last trip in 09 we paid oop for cat 1 and we sat on the floor but very close to the back. I bet it borderlined cat 2. So I am really looking forward to Cat 3 and the balcony. We loved the show and even the food was great. Can't wait until next Wednesday. :cool1:

OMG thanks and love your pics. Your seats were great and your son is beautiful. We did the show also in 09 and loved it. My two DS 11 & 7 at the time loved it. We had so much fun and they can't wait to go back. We couldn't stop laughing. Enjoy your count down to your trip.:cool1:

Another vote for cat3....we did it last year and totally enjoyed it. We had the third table down from the stage end of the balcony. My DD always ends up not seeing well when we go to shows(she's not very tall) and she was in heaven at our table.

Yay thanks it makes me so happy. We will be picking up our tickets on Monday when we check into the resort. I was so shocked they still had Cat 3 seats available. I have really lucked out with ADR's this trip. Thanks again.

1) Cat-3 caveats
. . . turning around (one half of seats face away from stage)
. . . might have a pillar in your view (five posts per side)
. . . kids are tall enough (short kids might have railing in the way)
. . . climbing stairs to your seat (not handicapped accessible)
2) Some people enjoy Cat-3, so it is personal choice.

Don't listen to the naysayers ^^. I've never heard them say anything positive about Disney. Cat-3 was great for our family and you will enjoy it too. :goodvibes

Would a family of 5 fit in Category 3 or are they all tables for 4?

Nope we had a family of 10. Were were split up into 2 tables of 5.

We have gone every year for the past 10 years. This last trip we were put up in the balcony. We were all upset before hand trying to figure out how we could get downstairs. Thank goodness we didn't. They were the BEST seats we've ever had. The cast spent so much time w/ us. It was great. And the best part was we could bring our stroller up for our sleeping babies.

Count us as a family who LOVES Cat. 3 seating at the HDDR! We love being on the balcony as we can see everything. We are above the floor so there is no looking around anyone. Last time I booked HDDR I told the CM I wanted Cat. 3 and she was surprised because she could have given us Cat. 2. The seats are swivel bar stools and you can easily see the stage just by turning your chair. My kids have been to the HDDR at from ages 2 through 12 and everyone always loves it and can see everything perfectly.

I am getting more and more excited about HDDR. I know we are going to love Cat 3. I googled it and found many pictures and it looks perfect. In 09 we paid oop for Cat 1 and were so far in the back. I think the balcony will be much better. We absolutely love the show and it was non stop laughter. Also we found it to be one of the best meals we ate at WDW. :cool1: Thanks everyone. When I get back I will be sure to post on here about it.

We were category 2 around that same area. I would have preferred Cat. 2 in the balcony. Cat. 3 would be fine for us too. Just looks like fun up there! But our waitress was such a hoot, I wouldn't have traded her! DS4 laughed non-stop the entire show. I regret we are not going this year......
