Hoop Dee Doo ADR question

I made my ADRs a week and a half ago. We were hoping to do HDDR on our arrival day at 6:15. I had to call because we are using dining credits. When I called there was no availability for that show in category 2 or 3 (which we need for the dining plan). Only the 4pm (cutting it too close for arrival day) or late show ( too late for the kiddos after traveling all day). I called the first day I could and right away when the lines opened. The lady on the phone seemed surprised it was full.

I'm wondering is it possible Disney is only opening up category 1 for that show to make sure they fill the most expensive seats and force people who don't want to pay for the most expensive seating to choose the 4pm or late show to make sure those get filled up too? Do you think categories 2 or 3 will open up eventually?

It's a little frustrating because I made a alternative ADR for the same time frame incase our original plan won't work out and now I can't check the HDDR availability without calling. It shows me the 6:15 showtime is open but I can't check categories without having to cancel my other ADR.

Any chance you can set up a dummy MDE account to just check for the availability that you want and then if available you could call and make the reservation?

I made an ADR for end of August a few days ago online and was able to book category 2 online. I also have the DDP and was not charged. My best guesses would be that either they booked up quickly (not sure when you're trying to go) or the particular person you made the reservations with was incorrect in the info she gave you.

For what it's worth, I know many people have problems booking prepay ADRs online when they have the DDP, my travel agent event told me to call for HDD and CRT but I tried online anyway and had no problems whatsoever. If the DDP is in your reservations then it will take you to a screen where you can select to reserve with DDP credits or pay with a credit card (paying with DDP credits is listed first and preselected but you can switch to pay with credit card if you want). Just thought I'd share my story that, at least for me, I was able to book online with ddp without paying.

Thanks for sharing. I was able to book like this last September when we went. This time I tried but it never gave me the option to book with credits. This time we have a dining party split between two dining plans. I'm not sure if that's why it never came up as an option. We are trying for the 6:15 show on Aug 13th.

Definitely call back. As of 10:54 am TODAY, they are showing availability online for all categories for the 6:15 show on August 13 for parties of 6 and 8 (wasn't sure how many people you have).

And I have no idea why the DDP wasn't showing up for you. We have a similar situation with 2 separate dining plans for our party and we're still able to use it for the ADR. Do call back and try again to get what you want though.

Reservations just told us that we can't book category 1 with dining plan?

When using the dining plan you can book Category 1 for the 8:30 show, but not for the earlier shows.
