Just a few questions, we are thinking of going to the hoop-dee-do in August, we have never done this but think it would be fun, My 13 year old ds does not eat meat at all, he is a very picky eater, can you get french fries or cheese pizza or anything like that for a kid or do you have to eat just what they bring you? Also in other resturants can he order a kids meal? sometimes he just wants a cheese pizza and the kids meal is enough for him, if we are on the dining plan can I pay out of pocket for a kids meal and use his adult credit else where, just wondering if they will let a 13 year old order from the kids menu.

1) HDDR can get a non-meat meal for the kid.
2) The choices may or may not be in his *picky* range.
3) Fries are a good probability, pizza is a lesser chance.
4) As for eating from a kid menu, if OOP there is absolutely no problem.

If memory serves me correctly they offer a salad, baked beans and something else (corn or mashed potatoes??) as standard offerings. The desert is usually strawberry shortcake. Perhaps he will eat these even if he won't eat the meat (ribs and chicken)?

We were there on Christmas night and my daughter and I each had a vegetarian meal (pasta primavera and roasted vegetables). Just be sure to put in a request with special dining in advance and the server will assist you in finding an option that will work for you. (They gave us about five options.)

just did HDDR---salad, cornbread, baked beans, mashed potatos and strawberry shortcake---they probably do a vegetarian option

they brought my dd out mac n cheese and an uncrustable and some potato chips. Shes 4 and doesnt eat meat either, out waitress was great and a vegetarian herself, she was more than happy to get DD something else if she wanted.

thanks everyone, sounds like we will be able to find something he will like, he will eat the salad, cornbread and mashed potatoes so we should be good.

I've seen current reports that say if you want a special meal provided at Hoop de Doo, you need to give at least 24 hours notice. You won't be permitted to pay the child price for him though.

DN25 was given cheese pizza, mac-n-cheese, fries, and corn. Seriously these are the only foods she ate the whole entire trip (2008). We did not call ahead and the Hoop staff was wonderful.

I dont' believe you would have had to call ahead in 2008, but the reports that you need to call ahead are fairly recent. Based on those, if you want to be sure and get pizza for your son, I'd call.
