We will be going down to FW on 9/23 :yay: and we're wondering what the concensus was about the hoopdedoo review and a 2yr old. Will it keep his attention or will it be a BIG waste of money.

The show is great - very funny, campy and corny. Our whole family enjoys it. However, if you are considering it mainly for the 2 year old, it's not worth it. Do the FREE campfire sing-a-long/movie instead. You can go enjoy it for a while and leave whenever you want and it's FREE (take your own s'more making supplies). Did I mention it's FREE?

If the whole family wants to go, I'd say there's probably enough noise, action, and excitement to keep a two year olds attention - at least 'til the food arrives.

It will be my wife and I along with our 2yr old son and 4yr old daughter.

Still worth it??

If it were me, I'd wait a few years. My youngest was about 6 the first time we went and we all had fun.

I think with a 2 and 4 year old, you and your wife will spend more time tending to the children than you will really enjoying the show (and it's too expensive for that :scared1: ).

With that said, if you don't do Disney often - I'd say go ahead and go because it really is a lot of fun. If you go to Disney regularly or know you're going back in a few years, then I'd wait 'til the kids were a bit older.:goodvibes

I concur with that assessment. We went once when the kids were in the 10 to 14 year range (1980's) and this last time it was another family affair with one son 32 with wife and the other single at 27 (2005) and it was even better and a blast. :yay: It is a little pricey, but worth it every so often.

When we went to the HDDR our youngest was 2, plus the 5 others. Even the 2 yo remembers it. They were all singing the songs for the rest of our trip and still sing it now. Our 2yo got a lot of attention from the cast. They were singing and dancing. They do have breaks between the acts though so you can focus on eating. I really was not distracted by our little ones who were 2, 4, and 5 at the time. In fact, it was one of the few places where I was NOT distracted by the little ones. All of the other places, I spent alot of time entertaining them and keeping them occupied. Here, I was able to just relax and enjoy.

I would say GO!!!

I'm a Disney veteren, in part because we try to keep costs low in order to visit more often.

We went for the very first time this last trip....it was just as much fun as everyone said. We definitely plan to do it again.

Not that my family are big drinkers, but we're on vacation ..... when you consider that the drinks and tips are included -- that makes it quite the bargain!!!

I think that if you have the money, I'd splurge for it this trip. It seemed to be a very family-friendly environment and well may be your young children's favorite meal time event.

If, like us, you are trying to control costs ... wait for another trip.

Another mention besides the campfire, is Bob Jackson at POR's Riverroost Lounge. His act is free and it very family friendly ... something for all ages! You can order drinks and munchies at the lounge, or just bring your meal in from the food court. No charge, but if you like the entertainment, be sure to send the kids up with a tip to put on his piano.

As long as your 2 year old isn't scared by singing and dancing, he should have a great time. Everyone gets really involved, and he'll love being able to bang on stuff without being told to stop ;)

In my opinion, the Hoop Dee Doo is worth every penny, it's my favorite show in all of Disney. Great entertainment, great food, good drinks, and everyone just having a great time!

On our trip this past Aug. we were going to FW to watch the campfire, but luckily my GF's Mom asked if we wanted to go to the HDDR again. We jumped at the offer and ended up sitting in the balcony (3rd tier) and it was one of the best show experiences I've ever had. The Pioneer Hall Players all had a great time up there and it showed that they were having fun. I think you would have a great time at the show. :thumbsup2

Lots for the little guy or gal to see. If your 2 year old isn't scared from loud music and lots of movement. I say go for it. We just went this past may with our 4 and 7 yr old. We booked it long in advance. We ended up beside the piano player. He was great with the kids and the show was worth it. Kids loved it.

The only thing that is putting me off if that there is no vegetarian choice on the menu - can something like a plain cheese pizza be requested?

When we went this last time my GF's little sister told our waitress that she didn't like any of the food and would just eat the corn bread. When the ribs/chicken were brought out our wonderful waitress Debbie brought a pizza for my GF's little sister. So if you ask your server nicely they will be glad to help. I think you can also call ahead and request something else but I'm not sure about that.

I would go for - we took our DD (almost 3 at the time), and she was totally mesmerized. It was actually hard to get her to eat anything becuase she didn't want to miss a second. We sat in the balcony, which actually worked out well because we slid our chairs close to the railing and had a good view down on everything. It was definitely worth the money!

How long does the show last? Wondering if it's possible to go to the 7.15pm show and then watch the water pageant from the beach?

Also how far out can you book this?

Yes, you will be out of the show by 9:00, so plenty of time to go down to the beach for EWP at 9:40! :thumbsup2

It can be booked 180 days in advance.

We went last spring during Lent and since I had given up meat during that time, I requested "no meat." They will ask you if you can have dairy (cheese) or fish. I could have fish and cheese and requested a fish dish. They made me a grilled salmon and told me not to eat the beans because it is seasoned in meat.

Oh, almost forgot...you do need to call two days in advance and let them know. Also, double check when you pick up your tickets.
