Thinking about doing this during our trip in December. Last time I was there was early 1990s. I remember it being lots of fun and really loud.

My youngest will be 17 months old in December. For those of you who have been there lately or those who have been there with toddlers, do you think it might be too overwhelming for her?? She is pretty easy going and the youngest of 3 so she is used to noise and activity.

Thanks!

We did the Hoop-Dee-Doo last night and it's a lot of fun and the food is still good. Yes, it's loud, but there were some small children that didn't seem to mind it. There was another thread that mentioned a small child being startled when the first bucket of chicken is plopped down on the table (happens to some adults, too). Since we often go on the spur of the moment, we didn't make reservations until last week and had no trouble for a show that is usually booked solid way in advance. There were even empty tables upstairs (7:15 show).

We go just about every year in June. Both my daughters are born in November and both went when they were about 6 months old and 18 months old. We found that when they were about 18 months old they enjoyed it and clapped along with the music. My youngest ended up cashing out and going to sleep on me. One thing we try to do is go to the 5 o'clock show to make sure we're not pushing the tired and cranky issue too much. :) Enjoy, it's a good show and they'll have fun. Plus...both our girls LOVED the homemade corn bread.

Thanks for the responses. I think she will be ok. I am going to think about this for the next few days though. See what the hubs thinks too.

The all you can eat ribs and fried chicken might be enough to "woo" your husband. If that doesn't, then maybe all you can enjoy sangria or draft beer may be enough to get his buy-in. :)

My cousin recently took his 3 year old daughter who is not fond of loud, disturbing noises. He said she did completely fine until, like a PP said, they slammed one of the pots of food right on her plate in front of her (part of the act). He also got selected to be the Indian on stage and she freaked out at that (at him leaving the table) he said but both times she calmed down fairly quickly and seemed to enjoy the rest of the show. I've seen the show 10+ times and it is a cute show. If you're concerned, they do have a side exit that goes right outside beside the building with the bathrooms and several outside benches where it is VERY quiet if she needed a minute to calm down.

Our younger DD was 16 months last September when we did HDDR. She LOVED it! I have the cutest pictures of her playing the washboard :goodvibes

She was all smiles and laughed and clapped right along with the rest of the crowd. Very cute, happy memories!

Enjoy!

I think she'll be fine until the end where they give everyone washboards and the spoons come out. That's REALLY loud. :thumbsup2
