I am considering doing this but.... do you think it's corny if you are a teenage boy!? I don't want him to get that teen "attitude" , should I go or avoid it ???? pirate:

All three of my boys love the Hoop De Doo review. In fact, that is the first thing out of their mouths when we tell them we are going to Disney.

My 12 yr old isn't quite a teen, but he likes the show the most and my 21 yr old and 16 yr old greatly enjoy the show also (especially when yours truely got a part in the grand finale). And the food is good teenager food. Fried Chicken, BBQ Ribs, corn, baked beans etc.

I think it's more the kids overall attitude that would determine whether he would like it or not. It is corny, but our whole family laughs from beginning to end, that is when we aren't singing along with the cast or shoving food in.

One hint. If you do go, the best way to get there is to take your resort transportation to MK and then take the boat to Ft. Wilderness. Do the same on the return trip. The HDD is about 150 yds from the boat dock. Just follow the path, you can't miss it.

FYI..this past June was our 6th time to see the HDD.

It's corny but that's what makes it great. I don't know about most teens, but when I went a few years ago we had a group of 19, most of us in our early 20's and a couple 19 year olds (we were all college program) and we all had a blast.

My 15 yr. old son thought this was the height of corny. He said he would have rather stayed in the room or went swimming. I loved it.

My 18 year old loves it, although he's a bit of a goofball and into corny stuff.

DH had the part in the grand finale when we went to HDDR... i have *NEVER* laughed that hard in my life!

HDDR is a definite "MUST DO" from now on in our family... we all loved it! i cannot imagine anyone not enjoying it, teen "attitude" or not! (remember, his/her friends won't be there to impress, so that should help!)

ENJOY!

When I first read the thread title, I thought it said for a corny teen. I thought well, he should love it!

I think people of all ages enjoy HDDR. This is where my husband requested to go on his birthday. We'll be there Nov. 30!

poohbear maybe you should ask the teens on their board. I went on the recommendations of the DIS people. I know I am a minority on this but I thought the food was average at best. There is alot of it though. I feel that my son has a great sense of humor. This just was not for him. I still loved the show!

My sixteen year old has been many times. This last time he was bringing a friend and had that "teen" attitude. He couldn't believe we were taking them to this again! Well it took about 5 minutes and both he and his friend were laughing and having such a good time that they later said thank you for making them go. It was one of the highlights of their trip. They still talk about it.

My nephews were 16, 15, and 13 when we went and they all enjoyed it. They thought the show was a little corny, but the food is all you can eat - enough said. We had 5 adults and 7 kids at tables next to one another. We put all the kids at one table and the adults at the other. When you sit down, the salad and bread are waiting for you and within about 5 minutes, my nephews had eaten 3 LOAVES of bread and were looking for more.

GiGi, What part did he have? I was Davey Crockett's angel, although my wife and kids insist I was a Fairy (pink tutu and all).

I have to agree about the not laughing so hard in all your life. Any time it's mentioned to this day (it's been 4 years ago) my family busts up laughing all over again.

I'll have to show them this thread as I'm sure it will cause a good laugh.

I took my 14 year old cousin to see HDDR and he just loved it. I was alittle nervous at first that he wouldn't enjoy it, but it was the highlight of his vacation and it's a must everytime we take him with us. Our whole famliy got right into it, including my 22 year old daughter so I think that helped him enjoy himself.

my husband is corny in general and thought this was stupid, i have a decent sense of humor and thought this was stupid..as did the other 3 people we went with. imo it would be ok for an attraction ( think country bears but instead of the cute animatronics, real people) but just not for a whole evening..we were all past ready to leave by the time it was over. the "humor" is similar to the diamond horseshoe revue at MK if you ever went to that...plus you can get the same food at trails'end next door ayce for $16. ( minus the disgusting faux strawberry shortcake) imo go to cirque even though it costs more....that would hold anyone's attention

I have stated by general "lack of interest" in HDDR but I would have to agree that most teens will really be uninterested. Not only will they complain, it is expensive. There are a lot of other places to eat at WDW for that money that everyone would enjoy.

We finally 'did' HDDR last month. My dd, 10 1/2, loved it so much that she wants to celebrate her 13th b-day there!!! There were 2 girls sitting next to us that were celebrating their 16th birthdays. They had a ball. They were picked out by the performers. If the teen-ager is able to get into the spirit of the show, they should have fun. BTW...totally agree with the 'strawberry shortcake' comments...yuck. I'd rather they just not offer it. It's disgusting.

UUuuuugggghhhhh!! I know what you mean. My kids aren't teen years yet, but I have 8 nieces and nephews that are. Only two of them have the "tude".

I sure do hope my children are spared. :p Otherwise, THEY will be miserable because their father and mother are VERY corny! We absolutely loved this show and can't wait to take our kids.

Does he normally like to laugh at corny stuff or does he generally feel that it's stupid to be like that?? You know your son better than anyone..........but I would think if they weren't around their usual "cool" friends, they would enjoy it. But it all depends, I guess.

My 13-yr-old boy had the attitude to which I believe you are referring. That blank stare. The periodic this-is-lame eyeroll. I thought it would be gone when we got there, but I was wrong. He wanted to watch sports on TV.

Thank God I scheduled the Hoop for our first night. We got there, he thought it was lame. We sat down, he thought it was lame. Then the show started, and he was smiling even though he tried not to. By the end of the show, he was laughing.

I then told him that 1) he shouldn't pre-judge anything until it was over. He agreed. 2) None of his friends were around, so it was OK to enjoy stuff -- nobody would ever have to know. 3) WDW is the most popular tourist destination in the US, all those people can't be wrong.

I found out later that his friends had been telling him how horrible it was for him to have to go to Disney, that it was all for little kids.

The rest of the week I got to see the kid I remembered. And he asked before we left if I thought we'd ever get to go back.

They've got something going with that "magic" they're selling. And the Hoop-Dee-Doo was no exception.
