I am going to call today to add Hoop de Doo. Not sure which time to pick.
Our plans for that day are to hit Animal Kingdom early. We have an ADR at Tuskerhouse at 8am. We will stay as long as we need to in order to everything we want.
I would like to do the 5pm show so that we can go a little early and do the pony rides and play at the playground. Then, I think what if we want to come back and rest before going to Hoop and we should go at 7:15. Plus the later show has the buses that bring you back to your resort.(Though I don't think it will be hard to get back to the Poly right?)

The pony rides close at 5:00. While there is stuff to look at, the playground there is small. But the store is nice. Maybe 30 minutes of looking around. Also, if you go early enough for the pony rides, be aware that they have the be UNDER 48 inches and less than 85 pounds. While my 6 yo is 55 pounds, they wouldn't let him ride because he is 50 inches tall. The rub with this is that for the big horses, you have to be 9 years old. So no horses for my son!

We were at HS all day, made it back to the Fort at 5:00 and rested before the 7:15 show. Good thing is they bring you food right away. There is salad and cornbread waiting when you sit down!

From all our experiences, quite a few HDDR's, we prefer the 7:15 or 9:30 seatings. Most of the parks close at 9 pm so you won't be missing park time and it's just something extra to do after the parks close. Bus travel is great after the show, all lined up at the bus circle and you're off lickety split. We enjoy the horse barn and gift shop before the HDDR and after the show, we're ready to go.

Will you have park hoppers? If you went to the 5pm show you could take the boat from FW to the MK and ride a few rides in the evening before heading back to the Poly.

No, it's not hard to get back to Poly. If you go to the 7:15, and the MK boats have stopped running when you're done, you can take the other boat that goes to WL and CR, get off at CR and take the resort monorail back to Poly.

We're doing the 5pm show so afterwards we can make our way over to
Chip and Dale's campfire at 7:30pm also at Fort Wilderness.
Alsos us to do two things in one night.

Might depend on how old your kids are. We booked all of our suppers for as close to 5pm as possible because that is when we eat at home and I don't want DD5 falling asleep at the table every night. Also most nights we want to try to be back in our room to watch wishes at 8pm.

Thanks everyone. I forgot all about the Chip and Dale campfire. Another reason to go at 5. We also usually eat at 5 for dinner so I guess it will be best to stick with that.
