I landed a reservation for myself on the 19th, I was excited to snag one...been on my bucket list of things to do....but I have a couple of questions....

How do you get to the cabins area? Can I take the Ft Wilderness bus from the park over and then is there a bus internally that takes you there? Do I get off at the cabin location? Can you tell I have never been to Ft Wilderness? ;)

I saw the dessert is Strawberry Shortcake, key issue I am allergic to strawberries. It's not noted on my reservation, the only other place I can't eat the dessert is Garden Grill (they added strawberries to the berry dessert thing there), so is there a substitution I could ask for? I mean there aren't many things that have strawberries and there's not something else I find I can have, but this looks like the only thing offered there.

Thanks!

At the HDDR, they have access to anything at the Trails end buffet. I am sure they could bring you something safe over from there. They had nut free ice cream there for my PA DS.

Ok thanks for that information. :)

Congrats! We are doing HDHR for our first time in January.

We love Fort Wilderness.

From MK the best way is by boat. The Settlement area is right off the doc and home of the HDDR. From other parks you would take a bus to FW and then take an internal bus down to the Settlemnt area (HDDR). Same for getting back, internal bus to Outpost and then transfer bus to resort. You could always hop on the boat there at HDDR boat doc and take that to MK or Wilderness Lodge.

It is about a mile from the Outpost (main bus area) to the boat doc/HDDR if you wanted to walk a few cabin loops. Or even walk to the cabins from the Outpost and then hop on an internal bus down to the HDDR.

Or rent a gold cart directly after you get there and jet set around the cabin loops, trailer/tent loops and depending on your ressie may catch some of the Chip n Dale singalong.

They serve sticky bun sundaes for lunch at Trails End (connecting restaurant) and might have a few extra on hand to substitute.

If you are headed there from the MK, take the boat. The boat dock is at the same end of the campground where Pioneer Hall is. Pioneer hall is where the hoop dee doo is. That end of the campground is called the settlement. If you take a bus from another park, it will drop you off at the outpost depot. From there you will get on 1 of the internal busses and take it down to the settlement. There are 3 bus routes and they are marked as purple, orange, and yellow. They each make a different route through the campground but all end up at the settlement. Tell the bus driver when you get on where you want to go.
Why do you want to get to the cabin area? Hoop dee doo is not near the cabins. The purple and orange route will take you by the cabins if you want to go there.

The cabins I know is where the show is located vs the lodge area. Its confusing. I have heard different answers about what you have to do, including waiting for a separate bus from the Lodge one. It sounds like I should take the bus from the park we will be at to MK and then take the boat over to Ft Wilderness, sounds the easiest. This sounds so confusing to me, I was going to ask the driver when I got on anyways. But sounds likes should hop on the boat at MK. ;) I already was told to give myself plenty of time to get over too.

Thanks for the tips. This sounds so confusing to me what to do and how to get there. I am going to the 4:00 show, planning to leave for there 1:30-2:00 to give myself plenty of time. ;) I know some one performing in the show, and she's on for this date I got the reservation for, so I am excited to see her in it. I thought the food allergy was going to be the issue, I think me figuring out how to get to pioneer hall will be the challenge. Lol I may do a trip over before the date to get my bearings and see where to go and how to do it all. I was advised not to walk it from the lodge, but you can tell that's some one talking who's never been over there. ;)

Yes I see what you mean now. Campground Vs lodge. The campground is very large and can be confusing to get around. And is completely separate from the lodge.

By cabins I am assuming you mean campgrounds & log cabins at Fort Wilderness. Wilderness lodge is a totally separate resort in a different location. Fort Wilderness transportation is not the most convenient for those going to Hoop Dee do that aren't staying there. If you take a bus to fort Wilderness, you have to change buses at the front of the property and then travel and stop at all the bus stops for whichever area the bus you transfer to covers. Eventually you will get off at the stop for Pioneer hall and the store and marina. They will not be right there, you have a short walk down a path to reach it. MUCH easier to take the boat from MK to Fort Wilderness ( just don't accidentally get off at WL as they will sometimes share boats depending on time of day and crowds. Leave a good hour to get there in case you just miss a boat and you have to check in early. The boat takes 20-25 min.

The show is no where near the cabins. The cabins are at the "front" of the campground where you check-in and enter, HDDR is at the "back" of the campground in Pioneer Hall by the boat dock, with the campsites between and otherwise.

Here is a clear map:

If you're early, walk over to the horse barn and see the Disney horses. It's just behind where hoop dee doo is.

It's super, super easy to get there from the MK boat. When we went I was really worried that we weren't going to be able to find it because I'd never been over there before, but it was no problem at all. From memory it only took us 2 minutes to get there from where the boat docked.

Yes, and if CM there ask if they will tell you which horse rides with the Headless Horseman.

You can take the boat directly from Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness

I'm also going for the first time in May for my 21st birthday. I can't wait to go. When are you going?

How neat to see a friend perform! I would see if you can call and add the allergy to your reservation. This will flag your reservation and prompt the host seating you to make sure the chef comes to your table. You will be in good hands! HDDR Shares a kitchen with Trails End, where the well known allergy friendly Chef TJ works. We do not have berry allergies in my family, but 2 of my family members have allergies to ingredients in the shortcake, and he hand delivered alternatives for them. He does have days off, obviously, but you will be accomadated!

There is also horse drawn wagon ride after each show. You can also get a drink and walk down to the beach and watch the water light show .

Check with Disney for timing the HDDR and the light show.
