Hook 'em Horns!!!! Woo-Hoo!!!

If we are thinking of the same play...I recpectfully disagree, the Texas player was down, play over.

Not the same play. The play I am talking about is when the Texas receiver caught the ball and fumbled BEFORE he hit the ground

BTW... why are you rolling your eyes at me?

Yup, didn't think much of the sarcastic trophy comment. The BCS is far from perfect and the AP still title is necessary and legit.

You're right. It was towards the end of the second quarter when I think it was Terral Brown that came down with the ball (duck that Leinhart threw up) clearly in his control. Ground can't cause a fumble so it should've been a Texas intercept. Oh well. Final score sez it all. :teeth:

Except he never had control.

Blame the BSC and the NCAA for that. Its not USC fault.

They need a playoff system. No excuse for not having one.

A playoff system would be wonderful, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. There's too much money being made right now with the bowls. I'd even go for a playoff system revving up after the prerequisite bowl games, but then again, I'm a football junkie.

My point is that USC didn't have sole claim to 2 national championships. Can't stand LSU...especially their new coach...but I'd be cheesed off if my school's accomplishments were overlooked like LSU's have been.

I am sure glad TX won! I don't even like football but that was an exciting game.

I hate USC, actually I just really hate that song. Why must they incessantly play it and do the off beat arm thing. I'm sure it is to 'get' to the other teams and it works! Once at an USC, Oregon State game we made up lyrics.

I just don't like their arrogance, same reason I dislike ND and the Cowboys.

USC's coach was quite classy I thought, he said we should have won and didn't get it done and then congratulated TX.

Leinart and the other USC players were embarrasing. He came across as an arrogant whiner, someone seriously needs to tell him to stop talking. And the players posing and mugging for the camera while throwing gang signs when two TX players are down on the field was real classy.

Gang signs? Come on.

Here again you had a TX player leading with his helmet when trying to make a tackle. I am glad he was relatively alright but the coaches in TX need to address that technique.

That play looked like a stripped ball to me, too. However, I can see how it could have gone either way. Refs had to have overwhelming evidence to reverse the call, and they didn't see the replay as being conclusive.

And I thought I was the only one that had this hallucination. :rotfl:

Remember, please, that LSU might have won the championship game, but USC got the computer's polling vote. Isn't that the one that counts?

Actually, I believe USC was 1st in the AP poll... actual human voters, not the BCS computer poll. That's why they didn't go to the BCS championship game.

That's what dh kept talking about too! How all everyone could do was talk about Miami this, Miami that...weren't there TWO teams playing in that game??

And this time... USC this, USC that.... well we sure showed them!

BTW.. USC.. can you PLEASE show me your TWO BCS National Championship trophies??? I mean you were going for 3 titles in a row right??

That always happens. Look at Oregon State and Notre Dame in the 01 Fiesta Bowl. ND this, ND that and on and on when OSU started totally dominating ND the broadcast team was left speechless. They were so sure ND would win that I'm sure they didn't even bother to look at the Oregon State media guide.

As for Keith Jackson. He should be more embarrased than Leinart. The end of the quarter v time out error should signal to ABC that they should stop parading him out for 'big games.' Hasn't the poor man been humiliated enough.

You're right about it being the AP poll. Until they go to a playoff system (doubtful) there will occasionally be times when a team gets screwed. Winning it on paper can't possibly be a validating as winning it on the field, though.

Ahhhh...so you just don't like people with a history of winning... ;)

I was happy to see Texas win. Even with the bad call, USC just couldn't stop Young...and Leinert & Bush couldn't set up a final play to cheat themselves into the end zone like they did against the Irish (remember that *other* bad call....the one that went the Trojans' way?)

Okay, that's all the badgering I'll do. It was a great game with two really stellar teams--what's not to love?

(wait...did I just say something nice about USC? I must be coming down with something...)

It's not very often that I root for the Longhorns but my husband and I both were rooting for them last night. It was a great game all the way to the end and they deserved to win. Gig'em Horns!! ;)

They did win it on the field. You're not at the top of those lists without winning every big game. Not their fault they were not given the right matchup.

Had there been three undefeated teams this year it could have happened again. That was one sloppy Rose Bowl, just how many fumbles were there?

If that third team kicked butt... another split decision.

Both hands wrap around it and in the numbers when he hit the ground. That's control.

Near the ball. He is a good juggler though. :rotfl:

I have no problem with people winning. White Sox fan, Chicago Bulls fan, San Antonio Spurs fan....

USC really is that song....my PAC 10 allegiance resides with the Oregon State Beavers, who never win.

If USC was playing ND I'd be decked out in crimson and gold wearing a Spartan outfit. And no you can't have a picture.

It's the Cowboys "America's team" thing I don't like and ND's TV alliance. I also have a good friend who played for ND that was treated badly by the school and coach (not the current coach) because of race.

The ground cant cause a fumble BUT when you make a reception you have to maintain control of the ball even when you hit the ground.

This I can believe...and I could take a few guesses at to which coach it might have been too.

Of course, half of the fun of being an Irish fan is "suffering" the disdain of others...makes the wins taste better. ;)
Besides....I temper it out with being a lifelong Cubs fan...

They won out their schedule, which is all they could do. What I meant is that they didn't get to compete against the other top team(s) to prove who was the best. In that sense, they didn't get to win it on the field. They won it based on AP votes, which are opinions not facts. Repeating again...it's not the team's fault, and nothing can be done about it until the powers that be wake up and turn to a playoff system. USC has had a great run, but who's to say they wouldn't have been toppled last year if they had the chance to play in a true championship game.

You do realize that is also part of the BCS equation? Three unbeaten teams can't face each other. When that happens, BCS matchups are based on opinions, not facts.

Damn Michigan and those 2 extra seconds!!

Then again, Penn St would have been the one on the outside looking in anyways, so maybe it's for the best. :rolleyes1
