Hook 'em Horns!!!! Woo-Hoo!!!

Which one would that be? They reviewed the one in the endzone and gave it to them (good call).

ABC replayed every big play in the game. Young was down and the possible interecption was iffy, and USC didn't get it. Everything else was clearly right.

I can't remember exactly when it was, but I think it was in the 2nd quarter...

agh.... am I going to have to look it up on my TiVo??

Congrats Horn Fans - although I am still trying to figure out why Leinart thought with 8 seconds to go, it would be a good idea to scramble for 7 :confused3

Leinart showed questionable judgement on numerous occasions. I am not sure that he will be a good pro. He was limited mobility and threw into coverage way too many times.

USC should have thrown a quick 10-15 yard out to the sidelines for a first down and kill the clock and then ran out their FG unit.

Keith Jackson needs to hang up his headset and leave the announcers' booth permanently. He's clearly lost the ability to be impartial. You might as well have given him a USC pom pom to shake; Jackson wanted them to win SO badly.

I agree with that. He was also making huge mistakes. Wasn't it the end of third quarter when he mistook the end of the quarter for a time out?

He had a great career, but he's starting to ruin his legacy IMO.

A-LA-BAMA. That is where Keith Jackson needs to go for retirement.

He was awful but at least Brent Musberger<sp> didnt call the game.

Yeah.

You're right; he is in danger of losing his legacy and reputation. Better to walk away gracefully than be carried out, at least in this situation!!

Big Ten refs suck!!! I'm an Ohio State fan (rooting for the Longhorns) and I thought to myself, "aw, CRAP" when they announced the referees were a Big Ten crew.

But in any case, the replay booth officials were not Big Ten--that's a separate group, if I'm not mistaken. They were just as bad, if not worse. A ref on the field might not have been able to tell that Young's knee was down when he tossed the ball, but the replay officials sure should have.

But Texas deserved to win. I'm very happy for them and their fans. Three years ago Ohio State brought down the #1 team and nobody thought they could. It's a great feeling to topple the big guy when you're #2!!!
:cheer2:

We made fun of Brent through the entire Fiesta Bowl. It was soooo bad.

That's what dh kept talking about too! How all everyone could do was talk about Miami this, Miami that...weren't there TWO teams playing in that game??

And this time... USC this, USC that.... well we sure showed them!

BTW.. USC.. can you PLEASE show me your TWO BCS National Championship trophies??? I mean you were going for 3 titles in a row right??

Honest Question - please no flames - on the subject of reviewed plays - isn't there communication from "upstairs" to the sideline ref and then a whistle to communicate to the on-field refs - to signify a review and the next play isn't allowed to start?

- both teams were going with a no-huddle offense quite often - so, if that procedure is in place, there wasn't much time in between plays to alert the on-field refs that a play needed a closer look and clear evidence which may take several different camera angles...

Wouldn't a good strategy be to call a time-out giving refs the time to review a call, if they - the team - felt a call was questionable?

Speaking of the trophies, I thought that thing with Will and Mathew in the beginning was great.

True. I think it was Fouts that said USC should have called a time out not allowing them to quickly line up for the kick.

Oddly enough Texas got out there for the PAT faster than anybody else this season. :rotfl2:

I really liked that too! It was funny when Will had the two Heisman's "in" his ears. Very cute.

BTW... why are you rolling your eyes at me?

Exactly! I saw a lot of similarities with all the coverage and such (except I think Texas was more highly rated than OSU was in the '03 Fiesta Bowl). I totally knew Texas could win, they just had to want it enough and never give up! :cool1:

I was rooting for Texas partly because they beat Ohio State but mostly because I got soooo sick of hearing how invincible USC was!

Yeah, I thought LSU picked up a lovely crystal football in 2004. :scratchin

did you see that too?? Thank goodness... I thought I had dreamed that.

And I thought I was the only one that had this hallucination. :rotfl:

Remember, please, that LSU might have won the championship game, but USC got the computer's polling vote. Isn't that the one that counts?

I was thinking during the game that if I were an LSU fan, I'd be pretty cheesed off about the whole "three-Pete" thing.

You're right. It was towards the end of the second quarter when I think it was Terral Brown that came down with the ball (duck that Leinhart threw up) clearly in his control. Ground can't cause a fumble so it should've been a Texas intercept. Oh well. Final score sez it all. :teeth:

Blame the BSC and the NCAA for that. Its not USC fault.

They need a playoff system. No excuse for not having one.

I am sure glad TX won! I don't even like football but that was an exciting game.

I hate USC, actually I just really hate that song. Why must they incessantly play it and do the off beat arm thing. I'm sure it is to 'get' to the other teams and it works! Once at an USC, Oregon State game we made up lyrics.

I just don't like their arrogance, same reason I dislike ND and the Cowboys.

USC's coach was quite classy I thought, he said we should have won and didn't get it done and then congratulated TX.

Leinart and the other USC players were embarrasing. He came across as an arrogant whiner, someone seriously needs to tell him to stop talking. And the players posing and mugging for the camera while throwing gang signs when two TX players are down on the field was real classy.

I dont agree. There was a major blown call in the 4th quarter when the Texas receiver caught the ball and then fumbled and USC recovered it. The officials all kinda stared at each other for a moment with no call and then a ref comes running from the sidelines and signals an incomplete pass. That would have given USC the ball and eaten more time and possibly led to another USC score.

If we are thinking of the same play...I recpectfully disagree, the Texas player was down, play over.
